Mr. Middleton's Sunday Message
10/9/2022
Thank you for making our 2022-23 Fun Run a major success! I am so grateful for all of the support. Our students received pledges from 41 different states and four countries! We are excited about the additional opportunities we will be able to provide our students after surpassing our goal!
The Fun Run event on Friday was also a success! Our students were running hard and having a great time during the event. It was wonderful seeing so many of our families come out and cheer them on.
We will be announcing the winners of our In-N-Out limousine lunch the week of October 17th and continuing some of our additional rewards (Tiger Races, Silly Stringing the principal, ice cream parties, glow parties, and yes, Mr. Middleton in a dunk tank) throughout the next few weeks.
With appreciation and gratitude,
Mr. Middleton
FUN RUN RESULTS
GLOW Party Winners: 2nd grade and 5th grades!
EVERY class met their goal and earned a TIGER for the Tiger Races! Well done! Tiger Races will be held on October 21st in the morning.
Since we met our school goal we can't wait for the lucky winners of the drawing (anyone who received 1 pledge gets an entry into the drawing) to dunk Mr. Middleton!!
K-Kids Thanksgiving Day Food Drive
The K-Kids program will be collecting non-perishable Thanksgiving Day food items starting Monday, October 10th through Monday, November 14th. Bins will be placed throughout the school and at both the front and back gates during this time period. All food collected will be going to The Salt Mine for their Thanksgiving Day food distribution. Items we are hoping to collect would be:
canned pumpkin
boxed mashed potatoes
canned corn
canned peas
canned or dry gravy mix
cornbread or stuffing mix
canned yams
canned cranberry sauce
anything else you think would be yummy :)
Thank you in advance from your TBES K-Kids

EMERGENCY CARD UPDATE - REQUIRED
PLEASE NOTE THAT IT LOOKS DIFFERENT THAN LAST YEAR. FOLLOW THE BELOW INSTRUCTIONS:
STEP 1
- Click HERE to access the Parent Portal
- If you've never created an online PowerSchool Parent Portal account, you will need to create an account now using information provided above.
- If you already have a PowerSchool Parent Portal account, you can sign in using the email and password you chose when setting up your account and complete the Emergency Contact Update & Required Student Waivers. (You can use the same account to complete forms for multiple children).
STEP 2
- Sign in to the portal. Click on "Forms" on bottom left side of screen.
- Click on the "Enrollment" tab at the top
- Work through each form (5 total) to update all required information. Be sure to check boxes on the three authorization sections for Technology Use Agreement, Student Health Insurance, and Photo Release Forms. Once completed, click 'Submit'.
***Please note that failure to update your child’s emergency information and electronically sign the Student Waiver Forms may restrict them from participation in extracurricular activities, class field trips and use of technology during non-class time.***
For those that recently registered a new student to WPUSD, you do not need to complete this process, as it was done during the new student registration process. If you have not set up a Parent Portal account, you should have received an email from the District with detailed instructions on how to set up your account. If you have any questions, please contact our office at 916-645-6350.

IMPORTANT ATTENDANCE INFORMATION
If you need to report your student's absence you need to contact our attendance clerk, Maritza, with the reason for their absence. There are several ways to do this that are the most efficient ways: email: Mpisik@wpusd.org with your student's name and reason for absence (if they are sick you need to let us know what their symptoms are and for how long they have had them), respond to the email attendance alert via Parent Square OR the TBE app, or you can call the attendance message line directly at 916-434-5210. We have a very busy front office so if you could report your absence one of the ways above it would greatly help free up the phone lines for those needing to call. It's always a good idea to send a quick email to the teachers as well so they are aware of the absence.
For those students who are out sick: if they are going to be absent more than 2-3 days due to illness, please let us know so we can have you sign an "Independent Study" so the teacher can give them their class work so they don't get behind while they are absent.
TRAVEL STUDIES...WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW!
If your student is going to be out of town and absent for a minimum of 3 days and a maximum of 14 days, you will need to inform the front office of this absence no later than 1-2 weeks prior to leaving (the more time the better). Once the office has been informed, they will email you a travel study contract to electronically sign and will notify the teacher of the absence so they can get together all the work needed.
Teachers are very busy getting together needed work, so please be patient and give ample time before going on vacation.
*TRAVEL/INDEPENDENT STUDIES ARE NOT ALLOWED DURING THE FIRST 3 WEEKS OF SCHOOL OR LAST 3 WEEKS OF SCHOOL.
