March Newsletter
News & Notes
In combination with Lennox and Addington County, our Grade 5/6, 6/7 & 7/8 classes are participating in a "Kidpreneur" Fair. Students are learning about how to start a small business based on a product or service, and how to try and use areas of interest and talent to build careers. This will all culminate in the Kidpreneur Fair on March 29th, in which students will share their awesome ideas!
Earlier this month, Mme Van Neste organized an amazing "Voyageur" presentation for all classes who partake in French. This was a hands-on learning experience and students were highly engaged!
Winter Play Day was a huge success! Thank you to Mrs. Sutcliffe for organizing, and Mrs. Kemp and the Grade 7/8 class for their leadership throughout the day. Parent Council were kind enough to make and serve hot chili and soup, and our local Fire Department came to ensure students could roast marshmallows safely over a real fire!
It's clear that at Selby, learning is about more than pencils and paper - real, meaningful, and hands-on activities go a long way to making school a special place to be.
As always, we appreciate your ongoing support and positivity. Our door is always open should you have any concerns or just want to pop in for a visit.
Have a marvelous March!

PARENT COUNCIL
Please consider joining our Parent Council this year! Parent Council is an essential part of our school community. They fund-raise tirelessly for our school which allows us to greatly improve the learning environment for our students. They put on exciting events, and are involved in important discussions about Selby Public School. They represent the voice of our parent community.
Our next meeting is Thursday, March 8th, at 6:00 pm. Babysitting will be provided! While the Council very much needs members who can volunteer at events and help out with fund-raising, anyone is welcome to attend meetings, even if it's just to listen. We hope to see you soon!
Parent Council have started a Facebook page for sharing information - please "like" it at https://www.facebook.com/selbyschoolPAC/ to receive updates.
