Winter Park Band Notes
November 19, 2017
From Mr. Blackmer
Congratulations to our 36 students who made either the All-County concert band or All-County jazz band!
For everyone performing at Friday's play-off game, please be extra on point that night. Neither Mr. Clemente or I will be there that night, and one of our administrators will be at the Band Room to let students in to get equipment, as well as at the end of the game to get students back into the Band Room.
Thank you to Tina Lu for organizing a Band picnic this past Saturday at Blue Jacket Park.! Everyone who came had a great time (with a LOT of food)! Also a huge thanks to Dylan Wagg for helping to transport equipment and securing the park space through his father!
Lastly - a huge thank you to the drumline for giving up their Saturday morning to kick-off Canine Companion's "Dog Fest Walk 'n Roll" at Lake Lily!
I hope that everyone has a restful and enjoyable Thanksgiving break!
All the Best,
Mr. Blackmer

Door-2-Door Fundraiser - February 3
The annual Door-2-Door fundraiser is mandatory for all Band Students. It takes place on Saturday, February 3, 2018, from 8 AM - 5 PM.
We need 45 volunteer drivers to escort our students to area neighborhoods. The students do the fundraising, we just need you to drive and keep them safe. Students and driving volunteers earn significant financial credit for their student’s account. Please send a copy of your driver’s license and auto insurance card to Candace Griffin at grifcan@gmail.com as well as a screenshot of your ADDitions status from your ADDitions (Samaritan) account. If you need help with the process, contact Candace Griffin or Maureen Dufresne at mdufresne5@embarqmail.com. They would be happy to walk you through it!
Band Composite Pictures
Individual students pictures for our annual composite will be taken on Tuesday, November 28 and Wednesday, November 29. These pictures will be done during the school day, and students only need to remember to bring their black shoe shirt (or any fully black shirt) on those days. The date for proof viewing is still to be determined, but will be sometime after the New Year. Purchasing pictures is not required, but we do need to have everyone get their picture taken.
Amazon Fundraising Opportunity!
The holiday season is upon us when we purchase items online! Another new fundraising tool we are utilizing is to raise money for the band every time we shop at Amazon. The Winter Park High School Alumni Band Association is a registered charity on Smile.Amazon.com, so please remember to use this unique link to shop at Amazon every time, and a small percentage of the sale (at no cost to you) will automatically be sent quarterly to the WPHSABAA account and then donated to the Winter Park Band Program. If we all use this link every time, we can raise funds on an ongoing basis to help the band! https://smile.amazon.com/ch/27-0964817
If you have any questions, contact Jane Claus at janeclaus@live.com.
Winter Guard Performers Needed!
Wind and percussion players: the Guard is looking to add performers for their winter indoor show this school year! If you are interested, talk to a current Guard student and see Mr. Clemente for details. Rehearsals for the winter show will begin the week of 11/27 in the Band Room.
