YOUR WEEKLY COMMUNICATION ABOUT ALL THINGS MURASKI

A Message From the Principals

Good Afternoon Muraski Families,

This week our students transitioned back into the lunch room. The transition ran much smoother than we anticipated. Our PBIS team is currently planning a fun Lunch/Recess challenge for our students. Each grade level will be working together to earn themselves compliments each day (up to 2, 1 for lunch and 1 for recess). As the students meet certain threshholds they will have some type of reward to celebrate with their grade-level team. More information will be shared soon!

This week's newsletter shares information regarding Say Something Week. Please be sure to read as there is information shared on Spirit Week for this week.

Half-day kindergarten parents - Please read below as there is informaiton regarding Blizzard Bags that will be coming home with your child soon.

Have a wonderful week!

Sincerely,

Mike Griffen & Katie Hawk

PBIS Student Climate Survey (Grades 3-5 only)

If you have a child in grades 3-5, you should have received an opt-out form in your child's take home folder on Friday. Throughout the week of March 21st, all of our third through fifth grade students will be taking a School Climate Survey during the school day. This virtual survey takes approximately 10-15 minutes and will give our students an opportunity to share how they feel at Muraski Elementary. We will then use this data to have some meaningful discussions during our next PBIS meeting to see what extra supports our students may need to feel successful at school.

HERE is a link to the opt-out letter for your convenience. You should only sign and return this letter if you choose to opt your child out of taking the survey.

PBIS Behavior Definitions

As we shared a few weeks ago, our PBIS team has created a behavioral flowchart for Muraski to identify the process we use with students displaying minor and major behaviors when determining consequences and learning opportunities. We have attached the behavioral flowchart once again for your reference.

To help you understand what some of these terms mean on the flowchart, our PBIS team created some behavior definitions for those minor infractions throughout areas of the building. Please take a moment to look through these definitions.

OST Testing Dates: Grades 3-5

Spring testing will be here before we know it. We want to provide you with these dates because it is important that your child is in school on their assigned testing date prior to the start of the test. Students tend to do their best when their routine is consistent. We recognize that you are not able to control everything, but if you could be cognizant of these dates when making appointments, coming in late, etc. we would appreciate it. Note: If a child is late to school on a testing day, they are not able to enter the classroom if the test has already started.
