A Note from Mrs. Mathe

We have had another amazing week of learning here at Powell! This week I was able to visit almost all of our language arts classrooms with members of the CISD language arts department. We were all blown away by the loving, engaging and fun learning environments our Powell teachers have created for your children! In CISD we know that providing a space for students to learn to love to read is top priority. Our teacher's classroom libraries are amazing spaces for students to do just that!

We also started Active Start this week. Our 3rd, 4th and kindergarten students did an amazing job working through this new morning routine. They were all smiles going out to start their day with their friends on the playground! Monday our 1st grade students will begin their day at Active Start and Tuesday is 2nd grade's day.

Progress reports are available for students in 2-4th grades on Parent Access Center (PAC). With a PAC account, you can monitor your child's grades, attendance, and so much more. You can use this link to create an account: https://www.conroeisd.net/parents/ You will need to know your child's 6 digit ID (it's their lunch number).

All About Active Start

Last week we started active start with 3rd, 4th and kindergarten students and the students were so excited to get to go outside and enjoy the weather that's been in the 60s! Next week we will start with 1st and 2nd grades. Students attend active start once a week from 7:30- 8:10 am. While the grade level attends active start, the teachers meet and discuss student data, planning for interventions and enrichment, as well as working together to build their teaching craft. When students arrive at school on their active start day, they will place their backpack on the wall outside of their classroom, then walk out to the playground. We will have signs posted and staff on duty to monitor students as they make their way to the playground. On rainy days, students will go to their classroom and our active start teachers will monitor them in their classrooms. Signs are placed at all 4 entrances to help remind students of which day they go out to play. We also have signs on their classroom doors as a reminder.
