Message from Mr. Melendez Title 3 Instructional Coach
Discussion equals Formative Assessment
Classroom discussion is one of the simplest, quickest, and most effective means of formative assessment we have. By asking our students good questions, we can determine what they know and how well they know it in seconds. But when we allow a pattern to emerge where only our most confident and verbal kids respond, we miss the opportunity to assess the thinking of the others, and we may very well be fooling ourselves into thinking they’re all getting it, when really, they’re not.

Capture some Data
This week capture some data on what students are contributing to whole class discussions. Cover your seating chart with a sheet protector or laminate and make a mark by the student who is making contributions. After you collect your data, what will you do with it? Let me know! Do not hesitate to contact me regarding discussion techniques that engage all students.
2021-2022 SPSA Measurable Goal
By June 2022, English Learners scoring proficient (Overall Level 4) on ELPAC will increase from 7% to 30% as measured by the Summative ELPAC assessment.
A Note from the STEAM Instructional Coach, Ms. Muro
Ha-ha! A little virus humor to get your wonderful week started. We will be having our STEAM Family Night Launch this week. Teachers, please tell your kiddos about it. We will be posting a flyer on the School Loop homepage. If you have any questions or wonderings about our science materials, shoot me an email or give me a ring in Room 1. Five day weekend is coming up folks, we can do this!!

COVID Reminders/Announcements
Please develop a seating chart for your classroom to assist with contact tracing. If any student tests positive, the seating chart will help us identify the students that may be affected. We are also conducting a seating chart in the pavilion so we know where students are eating. Tables will be assigned to students in groups of 5-6.
Please make sure that students are wearing their masks and washing their hands. Contact Angel, our Plant Manager, if you need any PPE material.
The safety of our community depends on all of us working together to ensure we are disinfecting and doing everything possible to stop the spread of germs.
The COVID Task Force will meet every two weeks on Thursdays at 1:30 p.m. to follow up on concerns and develop safety protocols.
Employee Vaccination Requirement-October 15, 2021
