We provide exceptional educational experiences that inspire, challenge and prepare each student to achieve personal and academic success.

Are you aware of District Emergency Notification Systems?

When inclement weather impacts schools or there is an emergency message that needs to be communicated to parents, Mt. Angel SD utilizes three sources of communication. Blackboard is the system we use for sending messages to parents by email, text and phone messages. Blackboard is used for sending emergency and non-emergency communications. We are able to send out 900 messages in 45 seconds. Our new websites allow us to post emergency messages that will pop up when you open the homepage. The third source of communication is the Flash Alert Messenger. This system instantly posts messages to all major Television and Radio stations in the Portland/Salem areas. There is also a free app called, "FlashAlertMessenger" that can be downloaded to provide instant notifications. You can subscribe to only receive notifications from Mt. Angel SD messages. Links to this site are located on our websites. Keep you contact information current with your school(s) to make sure you get these messages.

District Completes District Improvement Plan and now Focusing on Developing a Student Success Act Plan

The District Improvement Plan was presented to the Mt. Angel School Board on December 9th. The plan is posted on the website at this link: The results to the recent District Improvement Survey are posted to the website. Thank you for providing feedback for the planning process.

Our focus now turns to the development of the Student Success Act Plan, which will provide a significant amount of additional funding to the school district starting with the 2020-2021 school year. These funds are from the passing of the Corporate Tax Bill, HB 3427 during the 2019 Oregon Legislative Session. You can learn more about the SSA on ODE's website at:

The SSA plan is due April 15th. Mt. Angel School District will be engaging students, staff and community in the planning process during the months of January and February. The plan is scheduled to be on the March 9th Regular Board Meeting agenda for approval. Once the final guidance for SSA plan development is received on December 16th, the district will be communicating dates, times and processes for plan development.

School District Staff Focus on Social-Emotional Professional Development during Early Releases

At the December 10th Early Release, 60 district staff learned about Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and how they impact students and their behaviors in their classrooms. The training was the first of a two-part series. The second training will be at the February 4th Early Release and will focus on Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and how it impacts teaching, learning and overall school climate. In a recent school district survey for developing the District Improvement Plan, SEL was identified as one of the leading priorities with 38% of the responses asking for more resources around SEL instruction and support.
