- A - Act Confident
Dr. Banks presented the UnAFRAid program on November 13, 2015 to all Third, Fourth, and Fifth Graders. This program was presented to accompany and support the Guidance Classroom topic for the month.
Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the 5th Grade Playground
Thank you to all of our families for the efforts made to raise money this year for our new addition to the 5th Grade Playground. With your assistance, the PTO raised over $25,000.00 for this project. The Ribbon Cutting Ceremony was on November 16, 2015. All students Kindergarten through 5th Grade were given the opportunity to enjoy 30 extra minutes of recess on the playground addition during the week of November 16th. Every student raved about the new equipment and how much fun they had. We are blessed at Blackman Elementary School to have a wonderful PTO as well as supportive families. Thank you for all your help to achieve this goal.
What's the Weather Like?
On November 20, 2015 Justin Bruce from Channel 2 News visited First Grade. Mr. Bruce presented a program on weather. The students enjoyed his information as it was a culminating activity for their weather unit. It was excited to see so many of the children interested in the information Mr. Bruce shared. By far, the most exciting conversation for the students was about tornadoes.
Blackman High School Girl's Basketball Star - Crystal Dangerfield presents her Senior Capstone Project
BHS has a new academic program, Blackman Collegiate Academy. As the final project a student must complete a Capstone Project. Crystal Dangerfield chose as "The Importance of participating in Extra-Curricular Activities" as her topic. Crystal, along with Miller Armstrong and Grant Waldron, met and spoke with all of our 5th grade students as part of her project. Crystal's program shared the importance of being involved in Extra Curricular activities as you journey through your education. All three students spoke to the importance of preparing for college, as well as adult life by being involved in extras such as sports, clubs, arts, and community services.
