Director Tidbits ~ January 2017
Equipping Directors in S. Kitsap & Pierce County Communities
Second Semester - here we are!!
Here are things coming!
- Second Semester Payments for Challenge Students: due to CC by 1/25 - Use the online payment option - so nice!
- Second Semester, New F/E Students - registration payments due within 2 weeks of registration.
- F/E Directors - Remember to give your 2016 tutors (this school year and the last half of last year) their 1099s. Contact a tax professional if you have questions.
- Returning and New Directors - Directors Licensing Orientation: Dates will be out by the end of the month.
- Challenge Presentation - as our territory continues to grow, we need to consider dates, as a group of Directors, when we will hold WIC events. Each community will need to consider their own date, from there we will determine which directors are available to join/assist. We'll discuss more in our monthly meeting THIS Saturday.
- New Communities - do you know of a potential Director?? Send them my way!
- Practicum - you will see more and more of this as the days pass - but see the graphic below.
UPCOMING PRACTICUM EVENTS
- Poulsbo: May 17-19
- Vancouver: June 20-22
- Puyallup: July 11-13
- Centralia: July 12-14
- Port Orchard: July 26-28
There will also be many practicum in the Seattle and Northern Areas, Eastern WA, and in Portland.
As we get closer, I will publish what Academic Orientations will be offered at each practicum.
Need F & E Tutor Trainers
Nearly every tutor trainer walks away from the experience with a better understanding of the model, AND a stronger commitment to equip parents, and support students with a greater passion. There is a total of about 6 hours of training, online and some reading, and there is a little income to go with it.
We are currently in need of 2-Foundations Tutor Trainers & 1-Essentials Tutor Trainer. Please provide me with your recommendations. I value your feedback/input!
Challenge Themes - Are you familiar?
The Themes of Challenge are my FAVORITE way to describe our programs to people. When they see the long-term vision of the program and the intentional growth focus.
Do you know these? Can you use them to help people understand that our program is a K-12 program? Here is a flyer that you could print out to help remember:
Challenge A: Personal Investment Builds Ownership
Challenge B: Ownership Builds Discipline
Challenge I: Discipline is the Cornerstone of Freedom
Challenge II: Freedom Allows Opportunities for Noble Choices
Challenge III: All Choices Bring Consequences
Challenge IV: Understanding Consequences Builds Great Leadership
DLG Highlight:
- Preview and promote the next Challenge Program with the new year’s catalog, once received.
- Host an Open House (existing programs).
- Accept registration for current families (if an existing community). Directors of new communities may begin accepting registrations as soon as they have been contracted.
- Schedule and inform Support Representative of Information Meetings.
- Advertise Information Meetings and the program in the CC Event Calendar, e-mail loops, articles to newspapers and magazines, blogs, and at businesses, bookstores, and other public places.
- Conduct first Information Meeting. (January through March are premium months for having Information Meetings.)
- Submit Program Administration Fee(s) (renewal fee) to Support Representative by January 31.
- Challenge Directors — Collect January licensing payment (second semester tuition) from participating families and mail to Classical Conversations, Inc., by January 25.
- Renew facility contract.
- Schedule end-of-year (EOY) testing.
- Schedule program-specific events: Mock Trial competition for Challenge B; Protocol for Challenge I, etc., if not already scheduled.
