Reminders & Archived News
School Security & Safety
All faculty and staff members are asked to check for visitor badges. All visitors and volunteers in our building are required to have a visitor’s badge. Visitors, including parents, MUST have an escort when in the building. If a person does not have a visitor’s ID badge and an escort, please walk them back to the main office.
Teachers are reminded to close and lock your doors when the tardy bell rings so administrators and Intervention Specialists can conduct thorough tardy hall sweeps.
FIRE CODE VIOLATIONS Space heaters, microwaves, mini-refrigerators and other small appliances are a violation of the fire code and not permitted in classrooms.
Teacher Duty
Any time you are unable to cover your duty post or you will be late covering your duty post, please let Mr. Griffith know so he can arrange alternative coverage. If you are absent from school, your lesson plans should outline your duty post for your substitute.
Please arrive at your duty post promptly and remain until your relief person arrives. Teachers who have hall duty should obtain the duty radio from the media center prior to arriving at your duty. Any student in the hall without a signed agenda should be returned to class and/or ISS. If a teacher allows a student to go to the restroom or water fountain prior to the tardy bell ringing, please sign the student’s agenda.
Student-Related Procedures
Students should not be dismissed from class during instructional time to come to the main office to use the telephone or go to their locker.
When releasing a student to go to the restroom or nurse’s office, please complete all portions of the student’s agenda. Also, students needing to go to their car during the school day should consult an administrator between classes. The parking lot is off limits during the school day for students unless they have an early dismissal.
What Every Teacher Needs to Remember
Teachers are reminded that movie permission slips are required for movies shown in class. In addition, a viewing guide needs to be submitted with the movie permission slip. Movies MUST be related to the curriculum and department administrators’ permission is required.
A dark classroom can lead to problems: You may either use a lamp to illuminate your classroom or keep one light on during instruction if you use the Promethean Board. Classrooms should never be pitch black.
A Guest Speaker form must be completed and approved prior to inviting outside presenters to speak to students. Forms may be found on the Staff Drive. Once completed, the forms should be submitted to your department administrator.
SCHOOL CALENDAR To reserve dates on the school calendar/facilities, please contact Mr. Griffith. Once approved by Mr. Brooks, the event will be placed on the school calendar.
