Dear Families,
As we celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week, I want to take a moment to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of our wonderful teachers. Emerging from the pandemic, this year has continued to be challenging, and our teachers have gone above and beyond to ensure that our students love learning and grow as students and young citizens.
This week I encourage you to take a moment to show your appreciation for our teachers. Whether it's a simple thank-you note, a small gift, or a kind word of encouragement, your support and gratitude can make a big difference in helping our teachers feel valued and appreciated.
We held a wonderful all school meeting on Friday afternoon. We read More than Peach, by Belland Woodard, and our third grade Brownie Troop shared about their community service project, Colors of the World. Inspired by the book, these young ladies used some of the proceeds from their cookie sales this year to purchase multicultural crayons and markers for all of our classrooms, so that every skin color can be represented through art. We are inspired by the thoughtfulness and inclusiveness that these girls demonstrated through this project.
We ran out of time at our all school meeting to show our Positive Office Referrals for the month. Please see the video below to see all of our students who were recognized for demonstrating positive RISE behaviors!
Have a wonderful week!
Warmly,
Lauren and Wendy

On May 18, 2023 from 5:30-7:30pm, we are planning to celebrate the rich diversity of our community with a Mendon-Upton Multicultural Night--Passport to Global Citizenship. One of our district's Portrait of a Learner competencies is global citizenship and the multicultural night will help to develop skills such as:
- global awareness and appreciation
- building inclusive relationships
- human connections and conversations
- global learning
- altruism and impact
It is also an opportunity to have some fun as a community!
In the past we have had student performances, sessions where participants can learn new dances, highlights of crafts, history, and culture from different countries, and a wide selection of food items. This year we are hoping to expand our options by partnering with the community.
If you would like to participate in the multicultural night by sharing something special about your culture, please complete the following Google Form by May 10, 2023 Families are welcome to participate through a range of options, such as sharing food, a craft, a story, dance/movement, language, games, music, and more.
