Choir Student Shines
Congratulations to MCHS sophomore Sean Rowe for his excellent work representing MC Choirs in the Regional Honors Choir at South Lyon high school this past Saturday! The day included a lot of learning, working with top choir students and various directors from around the state, and ended with a stellar performance of some very sophisticated repertoire. Nice work Sean!

Ford Field Fieldtrip
MCHS Business Education students went to Ford Field on Tuesday, December 10th. They attended a Detroit Lions Student Business Fair and learned about business operations, marketing, customer relationship management, finance, and much more. Ms. Gardner would like to thank the students for representing MCHS in a professional manner, and Mr. Frendt and the parents that chaperoned the event. It was a great day!
Mariner Closet
Not many people are aware of the little gem hidden in the front hall of Marine City High School. MCHS is fortunate to be home to the Mariner Closet, a store that stocks clothing, toiletries, snacks and two wonderful ladies, Jessica Furtah and Jessica Kornago, who run the store and make it special for the students. The Mariner Closet is open three days a week, Monday, Wednesday and Friday during lunch. At this time, students are welcomed into the store to browse items, purchase the daily treat, to eat lunch, or to simply socialize in a comfortable, welcoming environment. Mrs. Furtah and Mrs. Kornago have created a safe haven that students flock to throughout the week. Not only has the store been a convenience for many students, but the ladies have gone a step further to give back to the school family in different ways. One way the ladies wanted to show their gratitude was to bring in cookies for the entire student body before Christmas. They also have drawings throughout the year in which students can enter guesses, for example, how many candy canes in the jar, and then a winner is decided and wins a prize. Last year Mrs. Furtah and Mrs. Kornago decided to establish a scholarship to be awarded to a graduating senior, which is a contribution back to the school from money that was raised throughout the year. The Mariner Closet is more than a store in the front hall, it is part of the MCHS family.
