Tejeda News
Week of May 18th
Dear Tejeda Timberwolves,
We are entering into our 9th week of distance learning and I am proud of what our T-wolves have accomplished thus far. For as much as our teachers have had to pivot to provide a Distance Learning program, our students have also pivoted to meet them with determination to succeed! It is not always easy to prioritize school assignments when other activities give us temptation of distraction. Yet, week after week our students have stayed connected and engaged with their class assignments. I am in awe of the products that our students have sent to our teachers and commend families for their support on staying the course with Distance Learning. I send you all my greatest hope for continued strength and health during these challenging times.
Important Information on Laptop Collection & Final Item Distribution:
Tejeda will be offering the last round of distributing items such as locker contents, art supplies, and PE locker items. At this time, we will also collecting NEISD laptops, musical instruments and athletic uniforms. Please save the date on your calendar for:
Wednesday, 5/20 for 6th & 7th Grade from 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. in front of school
Thursday, 5/21 for 8th grade from 4:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. in front of school.
***On Thursday, 5/21 PTA will distribute 8th grade T-shirts in the back of the school.
Important Information on Optional Assignment for Week of 5/26:
Students often ask teachers “WHY DO I HAVE TO LEARN THIS? I WILL NEVER USE THIS AGAIN IN REAL LIFE.” The recent events from the global pandemic have shown that what students learn in the classroom can be applied to life. Tejeda is offering a unique learning opportunity in the form of a Time Capsule project that will allow students/families to chronicle their experience during the COVID-19 time period. As a community, we have an opportunity to look through a lens, capture a moment and apply what we learned in Science, Health, Reading, English, Math and Social Studies classes. This is an OPTIONAL project that will be offered via teacher Google Classrooms to students and families on Wednesday, May 20th. Paper packets for the Time Capsule will be available during the pick-up on our Laptop/Uniform Collection & Final Locker Items Distribution days.
Important Information on Yearbooks:
Due to delays caused by Covid-19, our 2019-2020 Legacy Yearbook will be arriving in June. In order to get them in students’ hands in the safest and most timely manner, we will be hosting a drive-through distribution event June 17th from 8:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. and June 18th from 12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. If you are unable to pick up your child’s copy at this time, we will hold it for you to pick up once the campus re-opens. We will not be able to ship books.
Limited copies are still available for purchase at jostensyearbooks.com, but purchases will need to be made online before June 5th because we will not be able to handle cash at that time. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Rottman at crottm@neisd.net
