December 2022
The Most Wonderful Time Of Year
Happy December Eagles! I absolutely LOVE the holiday season. This is the month you MUST remember to take care of you, have some fun with your family AND make some unforgettable memories. I find by adding fun activities for the staff and students, I automatically get an energy boost from their positivity, smiles and excitement. Research is clear when you help others fill their bucket, YOUR bucket also gets filled. I encourage each of you to go for it this month and try something new and unique because this is the most wonderful time of year!

Operational Information & Updates
Drive Through Testing for Flu & Covid-19
Starting Monday, November 28, there will be free, drive-through testing for both Flu and Covid-19 provided at three locations. GCS students, employees, and their household contacts can get tested. Results will be provided in approximately 1 hour. An important change from last year: parents and employees are responsible for reporting any positive results directly to the school or their supervisor. DHEC has again contracted Mako Medical to administer the testing, and the three sites are the same as last year: Fountain Inn High School, MT Anderson Support Center, and Northside Park. All of the information has been updated on the GCS website, which includes flyers in both English and Spanish. There are some notable changes from the process last year:
They will test for both Flu and Covid-19: one swab, two tests.
In addition to GCS students and employees, household contacts of both students and employees can get tested at these sites for free.
Results will be provided in approximately 1 hour.
It is the parent’s responsibility to report positive results to the school, and employees must report positive results to their supervisor. GCS will not be automatically alerted to the results.
Pre-registering will help expedite the testing process.
Be sure to check the flyer before going to a site. The flyer will reflect the latest information and reflect any updates such as changes in hours, location closures, etc.
No Blankets!
Students should not bring blankets to school. We are creating a professional learning environment and blankets are not allowed. If your student is in need of a jacket, please contact the school and we will assist you and your student. Thank you for your support.
Reminder Of Dismissal Time
GEC dismisses students at 3:45. Car riders should be picked up by 4:00pm. Our faculty and staff have other obligations after dismissal and when students are not picked up on time it affects their responsibilities. Thank you for assistance with picking your student up on time.
Hours of Operation
As a reminder, our school hours are 7:30 AM to 3:45 PM. Students are marked Tardy if they arrive after 7:55 AM. Students are dismissed at 3:45 PM and should be picked up no later than 4:00pm. Parents should have their hanging car tags to pick up their students. Greenville Tech students should be reminded that the bus to Greenville Tech will be leaving at 7:45 AM, to ensure that everyone is on time for their first course
Student IDs
All GEC students should all be wearing IDs visibly at all times. Students that need an additional ID can purchase one in the Main Office for $6 which includes a new ID, lanyard and plastic sleeve.
