2023-24 Elementary English Language Arts Programming
After a two-year process of piloting and evaluating resources to align with the district’s K-5 English Language Arts curriculum, Lindbergh Schools is excited to announce the Board of Education’s approval of Benchmark Advance for adoption in grades K-5. Benchmark Advance will be the district’s core literacy program beginning this fall.
Benchmark Advance is an award-winning, comprehensive, evidence-based, structured program that fully replaces programs currently being used in elementary school, including Units of Study in Reading and Writing, Sonday Essentials, and Patterns of Power.
Benchmark Advance is aligned with Missouri Priority Standards, complements LETRS teacher training (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling, an intensive professional learning program that supports the teaching of early literacy skills), and builds knowledge that directly supports grade-level science and social studies content. It also includes a rich library of classroom intervention resources, assessments, and extension opportunities to meet the needs of individual students.
This decision was made following a thorough review of pilot programs in our elementary classrooms, analysis of student data, and careful consideration of feedback from teachers and other stakeholders.
Classroom teachers will participate in training this summer to prepare for the successful implementation of Benchmark Advance during the 2023-24 school year.
District Closed on Tuesday, May 30
Please be aware that all schools and district offices will be closed on Tuesday, May 30. In preparation for demolition work at Lindbergh High School, district servers are being moved off site to a new location on this date. As a result, the district will not have internet or phone service. Normal business is scheduled to resume on May 31, 2023.
How Do I Know If My Student is Making Progress on Their IEP Goals?
During this presentation hosted by the Lindbergh Parent Advisory Council (LPAC), Presenter Scott Crooks, a school psychologist who works for the Special School District coaching staff, discusses how to measure IEP goal progress and problem solve to improve instruction.
