Full Song Lyrics

Seems every station on the TV
is selling something no one can be
If every page was torn from the magazine
would cash still drive the media machine?
The products, damage and pursuit are endless
identity can leave you selfless

We will not witness this anymore
This is the end for you my friend
I can't forgive, I won't forget
on and on, we sing our songs and
on and on, the wars wage on and
on and on, we sing our songs for more
for more

Your eyes are open but you can't see
your mouth is moving but you don't speak
a blitzkrieg of images to break your will
I hope you choke on every pill

We will not witness this anymore
This is the end for you my friend
I can't forgive, I won't forget
on and on, we sing our songs and
on and on, the wars wage on and
on and on, we sing our songs for more

We will not witness this anymore
This is the end for you my friend
I can't forgive, I won't forget...

This is the end for you my friend
I can't forgive, I won't forget
On and on, we sing our songs and
On and on, the wars wage on and
On and on, we sing our songs and
On and on, the wars wage on and
On and on, we sing our songs and
On and on, your wars wage on and
On and on, we sing our songs for more
We sing our songs for more
Anti-Flag - This Is The End (For You My Friend)

Key Lyric 1.) "Seems every station on the TV, is selling something no one can be"

This section of the song is referring to the fact that the media portrays something physically un-attainable. Creating fake ideals for young men and women to be "factory/mannequin perfect" and if you're not, you're not good enough. If you are not wealthy, you will never amount to be anything. If you're not well- educated, you can never succeed as a person. You have to have/and be everything, to be an anyone.
Big image

Key Lyric 2.) "a blitzkrieg of images to break your will"

Blitzkrieg is relating to a German military term, also known as lightening strike. Blitzkrieg means an attack meant to create psychological shock and result in disorganization. They're explaining how collateral the damage is in the innocent minds of society. The media shows what they think is beautiful and that if you don't that then you are not beautiful, it destroys self confidence and acceptance for men and women alike. If you're not fitting to your gender stereotype, then you are wrong, will never fit in, etc.

Key Lyric 3.) "We will not witness this anymore, this is the end for you my friend"

Trying to rebel back against the social norms, according to the media. They're saying to stop advertising a false image of us- to us. No more brainwashing. The media is one of the number one causes of eating disorders. Don't put up standards that can't, healthily, and shouldn't be met, period.

The aimed-for Audience

This song is telling the general media and other social outlets to stop mutilating the self-image of people, to stop creating this unrealistic standard of what they believe beauty is, or masculinity. Also aimed towards those already affected by the media to stop letting it get to you, fight the media back. Give them a taste of their own medicine in a way. This video was created in 2009, it was important and made an impact on the directed crowd especially by pointing out sad facts and expressing that boys and girls alike of young ages are developing eating disorders and scary ideas what a good body image looks like. Photoshop isn't real. We agree with the message of this song as being someone ourselves who've at one point and time been affected by the medias portrayals of the perfect girl, etc.

Anti-Flag

The Anti-Flag in a alt/punk band from Pennsylvania, focusing on controversial issues relating to political issues, wars, and just human rights. They created this band not to be Anti-America, but anti-war, to create unity amongst people with music while giving them information and how to fight back.
