The First Day a New Way
This year, the first day was a little different for the students at East Troy High School. The goal of the day was to kick-off the year with students exploring and getting to know more about the opportunities available as they develop post-secondary plans. The first day activities supported the Academic and Career Planning (ACP) that the students work on throughout the year.
On the first day in the morning, freshmen took time with their resource teacher to learn more about the high school, get a tour, go through their schedule, and get their questions answered as they transitioned to the high school.
The sophomore, juniors, and seniors had three rotations they went through on the first day in the morning. One of the rotations the students attended was a College Fair and Career Fair where the students had the opportunity to talk with businesses and colleges. Another rotation the students attended was a ComedySportz show in the lecture hall. At the performance the students got to interact with the actors and get involved in some of the shows skits. The students also took some time in the morning and gave back to the community by doing work at community parks, Booth Lake, worked with the Chamber of Commerce, visited residents at The Heritage and East Troy Manor, and did some work around the high school.

In February, Juniors will be taking the state-mandated ACT. This will be free to take. The ACT is used by almost all 2-Year and 4-Year post-secondary schools to aid determining admittance. A study was done in 2016 that found students on average increased 2.9 points in test scores between the first and second time taking this exam. Prepare for your future now. Please see Sr. Herrell or your guidance counselor for assistance in signing up for this exam.

Trojan Athletics
It is hard to believe that the fall athletic season is more than half way over! We are having a very exciting season all around, and our athletes are continuing to perform at a high level.
Football
Our boys football team is off to one of the best starts in school history. We are currently 3-1 and look to add to the win column with a victory over 0-4 Evansville. If the boys win, this will be the best conference start in school history. Best of luck to the Boys!
Cheerleaders
Our cheer team is doing an excellent job with supporting our football team. The high flying aerial stunts are sure fun to watch! Keep it up!
Girls Tennis
Our girls tennis team is currently UNDEFEATED and have just successfully swept the conference last night with its final conference dual of the season over Big Foot. Mackenzie Lindow and Erin Rice also won their 100th match of their careers as the #1 doubles team. This is the highest win total out of any male or female tennis player in school history. The girls tennis team also broke the single season team record for dual wins. Congrats on an outstanding season thus far!
Boys and Girls Cross Country
Our Cross Country programs are off to a hot start as well. Both of our boys and girls teams are being recognized as one of the best programs in the state. Currently, our boys team holds the top spot in the state rankings while our girls team is ranked #2 overall in the state. A combination of depth, attitude, and work ethic is what is driving the success of these programs. Best of luck as you continue with your season.
Girls Golf
Girls golf is nearing the end of their season as they compete in the conference meet this upcoming Tuesday. Our girls look to improve on their season from last year, and have the girls to do it. They are playing well when it counts and look to knock off some RVC teams next week! Go get them!
Girls Volleyball
Boys Soccer
Boys soccer is off to a successful start as well. They have competed well in conference and had many strong showings against non-conference schools. They are back at it on Monday when we host Big Foot.
