Notes from the Principal
Thank you to those who replied to our Parent Survey. The information will be used in our Diocesan Evaluation coming up on November 20th. On this day, Montini will be visited by the Superintendents and other diocesan principals to evaluate areas such as Catholic Identity, Environment, Curriculum, Physical Plant, Mission, & Philosophy and Leadership. Each team member is assigned to a specific Standard of Excellence to determine how as a school we are working towards that excellence. Following the visit the team will present Montini with a report detailing the strengths and weaknesses for each of these standards. I will share the highlights once we receive these.
Conferences will be November 25 & 26th this year. All conferences will be hosted at Montini Primary. Sign Ups will be available today after 4 pm via SchoolSpeak. Once you log into your account, on the left side under QuickLinks, you can find the conference link. Click on that it will take you to a screen with all available time slots. Conferences for grades 4 & 5 will be done as a team with Mrs. Goy, Mrs. Huffy & Mrs. Malmgren. Conferences for students in grades 6-8 will be done with the entire Middle School Team. This allows parents an opportunity to speak with all of their child's teachers without having to schedule multiple conferences. The teachers and I look forward to seeing everyone.
Today marks the end of the 1st Trimester. Report Cards will be published, via SchoolSpeak, next Friday. Middle School Virtue & Honor Roll Assembly will be on Friday, November 22 at 2:30 pm in the school gym.
Students in grades 3-8 took the Iowa Test of Basic Skills this past September. We have received the preliminary results and the staff and I are proud of our diligent students. Students in 8th grade are testing at a 10.3 average, this means students are testing at a 10th grade 3rd month level. On average most grades grew at least a year and a half from last year's results. The staff and I will be analyzing the results and making curriculum changes as we see fit. Individual student results will be shared with parents at conferences.
I feel truly blessed to serve as the Montini Principal!
