APRIL 20, 2020
Dear Country Dale Families,
By now, most of you have heard that all K-12 public and private schools will remain closed through the end of the school year. While this news wasn’t surprising, it was still difficult to hear and accept. My mind can’t help but to wonder how all of your children are handling this information? My own children are not in school yet, but they still ask me nearly everyday when they will go back to their babysitter’s house and see their friends.
Moving forward, the Daily Learning Plans document will phase out as will the daily attendance form. This week will be the last that the Daily Learning Plans document comes to you daily. Instead, we will shift back to using the Country Dale Weekly Bulletin, which was on pause for a short time, to communicate school-wide information. Please look for it in your email boxes weekly on Mondays from 4/20 through the end of the year. Lessons will be communicated directly through Google Classroom accounts for students (4K activities will be emailed to families daily). Finally, be sure to check the district family newsletter for any additional information you might need.
Lastly, I'm giving video messages a try! I recorded this video update below and I also read a book to some of our younger Country Dale Cougars if you'd like to have a few minutes to yourself, parents! I recorded the video this morning and I also reference some other updates for this week.
As we continue growing in our development of online learning, the Country Dale staff and district are committed to supporting and keeping you informed as much as we can. Please make sure to reach out if you have questions, concerns, or feedback so that we can support your child and you as much as possible. We love and appreciate each of you and remain here for you, even though it looks a little different.
Take care,
Shaunna LaPlant- Country Dale Principal
CATCH UP ON DISTRICT NEWS
Please be sure to read the newest District Newsletter that comes out now every Friday. You can access all the issues here. If you know of any children in Franklin ages 2-18, there is a weekly signup form to pick up food while schools are closed.
THE FIRST PAWS DAY IS THIS WEDNESDAY
Please remember that there will be no new instruction from teachers this Wednesday. See the details below for what students and staff should focus on for Wednesdays.
STUDENTS VIRTUAL LEARNING PICTURES
MOVING OR TRANSFERRING
We are asking for your help in planning for next year. We have previously surveyed our current 4K students but are now gathering information on our 5K to 5th grade students. If your child(ren) will no longer be attending Country Dale in the Fall because of moving, or transferring, please contact Ms. Tubbs via email at terese.tubbs@franklin.k12.wi.us. A student withdrawal form will need to be filled out. We would appreciate your help if a new neighbor moves into your area during the summer. Encourage them to register for school at FPS New Families-How to Enroll as soon as they move in.
TEACHER REQUESTS FOR 2020-21
As we look at the calendar we are reminded that the last few months of the school year are fast approaching. We would like to make you aware of some important information regarding your child’s placement for next year.
Several factors are used to develop class lists including: learning styles, academic and social skills, talents, groupings, balances, special needs, and class sizes. All teachers including music, physical education, art, speech, special education, reading and ESL have an opportunity for input into class lists.
While we are not able to accommodate teacher requests or specific student/friendship placements, please reach out to your child’s current teacher if there is something you feel they should keep in mind as they create lists for next year. You can also contact Mrs. LaPlant if you feel it is necessary. We ask that any pertinent information is shared with teachers or Mrs. LaPlant by May 15th as teachers will soon be working on lists and it is difficult to make changes once the work is done.
Be assured teachers have the “big picture” and will make the best classroom choices for all our students. Also, keep in mind that each child and grade level class as a whole is different from year to year. Please understand that younger siblings may not have the same teacher as their older siblings have had.
Thank you for your cooperation as we make these complex decisions.
KID’S CLUB REGISTRATION FOR 2020-21
RESERVING ROOMS FOR NEXT YEAR 2020-21
If you wish to reserve rooms for the following school year, please submit your applications to Leah.Voss@franklin.k12.wi.us.
No fees are associated with these requests and they will be entered on a first-come, first-serve basis after your group’s reservation period begins. Click here for the School Facility Use Application. Submit requests on this form only. Please include the entire time frame you will be in the buildings, not just the event time.
Click here for a 20-21 Calendar
All PTO/PTA Events should be submitted to the Rec Dept as well but it wouldn't hurt to give your school secretaries a list of those for reference, along with who the lead person will be in case we need to contact them for any reason.
Events that run only during the school day should have the form submitted to the school secretaries.
CHILD DEVELOPMENT DAYS
SCHOOL SUPPLY PROGRAM
Due to the current state of affairs we will not be participating in a school supply program this year but we will pick it up again next year.
