Honoring Vinny DiSessa
Weymouth High School Art Teacher honors Vinny DiSessa, beloved Weymouth teacher of 66 years.
Vinny served as a Corporal from 1943 - 1946 in the US Army in the Pacific Arena. He experienced a life changing "Ah-ha" moment when he was repairing tanks in ordinance. The Captain asked Vinny to demonstrate how to fix Boogie wheels on the tanks. he realized he was good at communicating and decided then to become a teacher.
He has personally restored an antique car, a 1931 Chevrolet Special Sedan, which he purchased for $1,000.
Vinny is also honored, along with all Service Members and Veterans, at the WHS "Flag Rock"
Vinny passed away in August 2018, at the age of 93. Vinny is remembered by many for a "life well-lived and a legacy of love and kindness, to have served your country with honor, to have shared the best of yourself with everyone around you." Quote attributed to WHS teacher Katie Owens.
