AIM students enjoy Pretty Lake
The OMS AIM class tested their mental strength and trust with a trip to Pretty Lake camp. They took part in several team-building activities including the high-ropes course. They did a great job going out of their comfort zone, working together and having fun!
Fourth Graders "Think Energy"
Consumers Energy came into WSE this week to present Think Energy to the 4th grade classes. They learned about different types of energy, what's used most in Michigan and how they can conserve energy. They also saw how a circuit worked with a special light stick. They all held hands to complete the circuit and see it light up! Each student also went home with an energy kit with LED bulbs, water conservation faucet attachments and much more!
2020 Purple Committee Underway with VAI Visit
The next Purple Game isn't until next fall, but we're getting the HS Purple Game Committee started early so they can get a better idea of how their efforts make a difference. The committee traveled to Van Andel Institute Thursday for their annual Lunch & Learn. Students learn about Purple Community, heard from a scientist and toured the Van Andel Education Institute where scientists, graduate students, educators and teens go for training and camps. Here, they looked at cells in the microscope, created their own hoverboards, watched an experiment and checked out animals. It was a great experience and a great introduction to this group to gear up for the next Purple Week!
CKH for OMS
A classroom visit turned into a full assembly for Otsego Middle School. Joe Pellerito, a CKH Instructor with the Flippin Group, was going to stop into a class, but OMS staff took advantage of his visit so his message of leadership could reach all students. During their WIN time on Monday, he provided the perfect kick-off to the week to be a leader, to stand up for others and stand by them when they need it.

Otsego Fire Visits with Kindergartners at WSE
October is Fire Safety month, so you'll see the fire departments at our schools quite a bit. Thursday, Otsego firefighters talked with kindergarten students about fire safety, having an escape plan and what to do in case of a fire. They saw and heard a firefighter in full gear, so they'd know what to expect in case of an emergency, saw the thermal imaging camera and got to spray the fire hose! They also climbed into the fire truck. Mrs. Schreuder got in on the fun, too!
Alamo Fire Spends the Day with Kids
The Alamo Township Fire Department spent the day at Alamo for Fire Safety Month. They spent time in each classroom talking about fire safety, having a family fire safety plan and meeting place and showed the kids the gear and equipment firefighters wear when they go into a fire. Kids also got to climb through the fire truck and see more of the equipment they bring to emergency scenes.

Thousands of people in the Otsego, Plainwell and Martin areas receive the Christian Neighbors newsletter. It takes a lot of time to stuff, fold and label each one. This week, they got a lot of help from Mrs. Danielson's students and a few middle school Links, as well! Great work!

OMS Hosts 2nd annual Boo Bash!
OMS was a busy place Friday night as 300 middle schoolers got into the Halloween spirit for the 2nd annual Boo Bash. Parents provided snacks and drinks, the kids danced to the DJ and played games. It was a tough costume contest, too! Great job to our OMS student council for putting on such a great event!
