A Year in Review
Encouraging a Culture of Reading
Read Harder Challenge
The Read Harder Challenge is a program to encourage reading outside of one's comfort zone or favorite genre. It began in January, around the time New Year's Resolutions are made. The challenge is to read one book in each of six different categories. Participants get to pick every book and decide what works for each category. A leader board in the library displays challengers' progress and monthly raffle prizes are awarded to encourage participation. Here is the checklist of genres. The Challenge will continue through the summer all of 2018.

Harry Potter Read Aloud
In celebration of "World Read Aloud Day" and the 20th anniversary of "Harry Potter Night" students and teachers gathered for a continuous reading of the Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone during a Flex Block.
Research Databases
We are always looking to expand and refine our offerings to suit students' needs. Two years ago we added the New York Times Historical Database, which offers page views of the paper from 1851-2013 and well as a searchable index. This past year we added JSTOR, to support our students who are looking to transition to college-level research.
