AM & PM Reminders
Colder weather and snowy days always result in more students traveling to and from school by vehicle versus walking or biking. We have appreciated the cooperation that so many families have shown this year in adhering to our arrival and drop-off procedures. Below are a few important reminders for families who are driving their children to and from school:
- Pull as far forward in the plaza lane, as possible, when dropping off your child. This may mean that your child is not dropped off nearest his/her/they entrance door. Pulling as far forward as possible allows a maximum amount of families the same access to the plaza drive and prevents any unnecessary backup issues on Jackson Street.
- Remain in one single file lane at all times. We promise to move you through the plaza lane as quickly as possible. This can only be accomplished with everyone's cooperation.
- Have your child ready to exit the vehicle quickly when you are in the designated drop-off zone.
- Turn left when exiting the drive. Right hand turns are not allowed at any time.
PM Reminders:
- Students cannot load vehicles on Jackson Street in front of the plaza OR west of the plaza drive. Once in the car line west of the drive, vehicles must stay in line and proceed through the plaza drive for the safety of all students/staff and vehicles traveling west on Jackson Street. Vehicles cannot pull out of the line on Jackson Street, as that prevents vehicles from safely traveling west on Jackson.
- Pull as far forward in the plaza lane, as possible, when picking up your child. This may mean that your child is not picked up nearest his/her/they exit door. Pulling as far forward as possible allows a maximum amount of families the same access to the plaza drive and prevents any unnecessary backup issues on Jackson Street.
Thank you for your cooperation and support in adhering to these procedures. When staff, students, and families follow arrival/dismissal procedures, we all work together to keep everyone safe. Safety is our number one priority during student arrival and dismissal, and it requires everyone’s attention and cooperation. As always, your patience, respect, and courtesy towards staff and other drivers is expected and appreciated.

February 15 Dental Screening Opportunity
The Smile Squad at the DuPage County Health Department is coming to Jackson on Tuesday, February 15. Children who complete a signed consent form will receive a dental exam. If your child meets the necessary requirements, he/she/they will receive dental cleaning, fluoride treatment, and sealants. A letter will be sent home with the exam results and what services were completed. This dental exam does meet the state mandated requirements for 6th and 9th graders. Consent forms were sent home through your child's Advisory class last week. Please have your child return the completed form by Tuesday, February 8, only if you plan to have your child participate.

Attendance
A friendly reminder that it is the responsibility of a parent/guardian to contact Jackson in the event his/her child will be absent from school. Please plan to report your child’s absence, prior to 9:00 a.m., by calling our attendance line at 630-516-7368. Parents/guardians will leave a voicemail reporting their child’s absence. In the voicemail, please include the following information:
Child’s name and grade level
Date of absence
Reason for absence
Student absenteeism should be kept to the minimum; however, the School Board recognizes that some absences are unavoidable. The following are valid causes for a student's absence and will be considered “excused,” as specified in Section 26-2a of the Illinois School Code:
Illness
Observation of a religious holiday
Death in the immediate family
Family emergency
Other situations approved by the school principal
