Principal's Message
December is my favorite month. The energy really shifts and becomes so joyous. There is something so special and exciting about the holiday season. As we move into the colder season, we will always prioritize students having outside recess when the weather permits. It is helpful for students to have jackets with them, especially when it might be too cold without one, but perfect with a jacket on. Beyond that, CAPE is actively planning for Lip Sync. This Smore has a good deal of information regarding the deadlines and expectations for the much anticipated return of this exciting event. Please keep this in mind if you are interested in participating. Our Holiday shop sponsored by CAPE is kicking off next week. Our Holiday themed Spirit Week will take place at the end of December. Be on the look out for more information here!

Referendum π³οΈ
Your Vote Matters on Tuesday, December 13th!
The Wall Township Public Schools Dec. 13 bond referendum is quickly approaching. If you have not yet done so, visit wallpublicschools.org/vision for information about the special election.
Mark your calendars as well! A public virtual forum will take place Thursday, Dec. 1 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 pm. Experts will be available to answer questions from the community regarding the referendumβs proposed projects, finances, timeline, and more. A link will be provided closer to the date.
The website is the primary place to find out more details about projects, funding, and voting information. Check your voter registration status and make sure you are registered to participate in the referendum before Nov. 22.
Do you have a college student visiting home for Thanksgiving? Plan ahead to help him or her fill out a Vote By Mail application. Mail-in ballots must be postmarked by Dec. 13 or hand-delivered to the county office on the same vote date.
If you have not received one yet and would like to vote by mail, make sure to request a ballot before Dec. 6.
At Central Elementary School, the Question 1 proposal would replace the roofing and components of the old heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system, including an electrical system upgrade. It would also renovate restrooms and upgrade the buildingβs fire alarm system. All of the proposed improvements for Central are in Question 1.

Congratulations to our Students of the Month for the month of October!
Attendance ππββοΈ
As we move into the second marking period, please be mindful of attendance. Parents will be alerted each marking period if their child has 4 or more unexcused absences during that marking period. Excessive absences may prompt a corrective action plan. Please call the main office when your child is out to help us in maintaining accurate records of your child's attendance.
Transportation π
Please remember to check the transportation status sheet on the website to know if there are any buses running late. In the event of a change that takes place close to arrival or dismissal, I will send out a notification.
Research βοΈ
Building a reward based system to enforce positive behavior can be implemented at any age to help reinforce positive regulation strategies that can lead to success at school. We all know the positive benefit learning has on children's paths through life, however learning, like most things, requires time and effort in order to produce results. These delayed rewards flow contrary to children's needs that often center on "the now." This article briefly describes how the implementation of a reward system that is incremental and systematic can bring positive behaviors and set students up for success in school where rewards liking mastering skills sometimes take many weeks or months to attain. Teacher Highlightπ¨βπ«π©βπ«
Meet Sra. Arena π
Sra. Arena has been teaching at Wall for 24 years with all of them at Central school! Her favorite part of teaching Spanish is when the kids enjoy and understand the language and when she hears them using it spontaneously. Her childhood superhero was Princess Leia from Star Wars because of her ferocity and her intellect. She spent her late teens and early twenties working in a movie theater and video store and so she is very skilled in movie trivia. She wants all her students to know that they are her favorite part of the job. Seeing their smiles and hearing their laughs makes all the work worthwhile. Gracias, Sra. Arena!
