Elementary PTO Update

January 4, 2018 Meeting Minutes

Bob came to do a presentation from Club’s Choice. He brought some of the pizza and cookies he sells. Did a presentation on how their fundraiser works, their products, their prize and incentives. We voted to let him know we want to do a fundraiser the week of Oct 8-12, 2018. By reserving dates by January the PTO gets $500 to spend.

Discussion on last fundraiser. A lot of work, Bob stays during pickup time, and will do a 2nd pick-up time no charge, and will take refrigerated product back with them and story until 2nd pick-up date no charge. Still working out a lot of kinks with the last fundraiser. PTO will work on giving more notice for the next one and making sure the packets are delivered and sent home without other fundraiser type flyers. Make clearer what is what. More members to help with the whole ordeal to make it flow better.

West Report- They had a great December, MAP testing will start next Monday, FAST testing will start Jan 22

Treasure report read by Amy in treasurer absence – Bal. $39,985.12 Last fundraiser got over $10,000. Spent $1,600 to send all Northstar students to the movie theater to watch Wonder.

Shana – Box tops winner is Abby (autocorrect issue in message but believe to be Keitches) Amy following up to be for sure.

Yearbook – discussion, using Tree Ring – flyers came to west. No min order, parents can add up to 2 pages of pics for just their child’s yearbook, parents can order online. The committee is working on getting pics of the faculty.

North Report- Library couldn’t keep the book wonder in stock, they decided to send kids to see the movie. Great response from students, Principal Keitches says thank you for paying to send the kids. Kindness week will capitalize on the students and story line of the movie. FAST testing in Jan. Iowa assessments in Feb. MAP test in March/April. PBIS will be North students next year so West needs to do theirs this year. Info to From North to West on how to get that done.

Jog-A-Thon – Start Planning – Date needed by Feb meeting. Looking at May as it is warmer. May link inflatable/field day into or do separate dates but may not have west and north back to back dates.

Spring Family Night – Committee needs to be formed, Amanda Ohannessian Holly Thorpe Holly Burkhart will do it. Ideas Dance Party was a success, movie and PJ party as west bought license to be able to play movies. Date set as March 23, 2018. Movie/PJ night. Committee will go to North and West and poll the students for top 2 movies. Play one in Gym at west and one in Cafeteria at west. Will serve popcorn and bottled water. Will ask to borrow popcorn machine from Booster Club. Amanda will ask to be put on the district calendar as it does not have any events that day. A flyer will go out once movies have been selected.

School Store Fundraiser concern from PTO member. Family getting emails appearing to be from student but it’s the company trying to get the recipient to buy more product. Per Principal Keitches will end the contract with them at the end of the year timeline they signed.

Adjourned at 7:40. Next meeting February 1st, 2018
