Jesus the Ultimate SuperHero

When Jesus was on earth, many people thought of him as a kind of superhero.

Right after Jesus chose his disciples he visited the home of Simon and Andrew, two of his new disciples. When he got there he discovered that Simon’s mother-in-law was very sick and stuck in bed. All Jesus had to do was touch her hand and she was instantly healed.

This was a huge shock to her and everyone else watching. How had this man done this? That is impossible! But it wasn’t impossible, because Jesus really did heal her.

Everyone was so excited and in shock that they ran to tell everyone they knew, especially those that were sick. Everyone needed to see this man and his super power of healing.

Person after person came to the door, and Jesus touched each one, healing them of anything they had.

In the middle of the night Jesus snuck out of the house and went off to pray. His disciples found him and asked him to come back, because there were more people at the door asking for his healing. But surprisingly, Jesus said no.

You would think Jesus would want to help these people. How could he leave with all of these people needing his help. Jesus was the only one with this superpower, the only one who could heal them. How could he possibly say no?

But Jesus knew that healing the sick wasn’t the plan. He had something much more important to do, and it involved an even greater superpower that would help even more people. Do you know what that super power was?

The greatest, most amazing, spectacular, important, exciting, and powerful superpower of all time. Jesus could save our hearts. Everyone hearts. Anyone who has ever lived or will live could be saved by Jesus. That is one incredible super power.

Even though healing the sick was very important, Jesus knew it wasn’t nearly as important as saving our hearts. So instead of returning to the house, Jesus and his disciples left and traveled around preaching to huge crowds, teaching them about God, being saved, and going to heaven.

Jesus was, is, and always will be the ONLY one who could ever have the power to save us, and we need him to save us so we can live with him forever in heaven. Jesus is the ultimate superhero with the ultimate super power. Jesus is the Son of God.

Cold Weather

Mother Nature has decided we needed to feel winter this year so as the snow starts to fall and the temperatures drop, here's a friendly reminder to make sure your child has the appropriate clothing for outdoors. Students will be required to go outside for recess until the temperature reaches an outside temperature of -25C (this includes the wind chill). Students should have a warm coat and boots, as well as gloves/mitts, toques and snow pants.

EICS Parent Assurance Survey 2021-22

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As part of the Elk Island Catholic School Assurance process, we would like to invite you to participate in the linked survey. Results from this survey will be used to inform planning at the school and divisional level for the 2021/2022 school year. This survey complements and is provided to all grade 4-12 students, all staff, and all parents in our division.

If you have children in multiple schools, we ask that you complete one survey for each individual school. If you have a child who has attended St. Isidore Learning Centre full time for remote learning, identify your school as St. Isidore Learning Centre.

If you have a child in grade 4, 7, or 10, you may receive a survey from Alberta Education. If so, we would encourage you to complete both surveys.

The survey will remain open until Thursday, February 18, 2021.

If you have questions, please contact us at 780-467-8896, or toll free at 1-800-996-9982.

Thank you for taking the time to give your feedback.

Meet Our Parent Council Vice Chair - Lori Taylor

Welcome to PAC Corner!

My name is Lori Taylor and I am the Vice Chair of the Parent/Student Counsel. This is our 1st year attending Holy Redeemer and we could not be happier. I joined the parent council so we could be aware of the inner workings of the school and the people attending. We felt since we were not allowed inside the school, we would take full advantage of being involved as much as possible to learn how the system works and who is behind the walls providing the education and care for our boy.

We initially chose this school for its Nature Kindergarten program. We quickly realized the educators and staff, along with the boys and girls club, as well as the nutrition program were the perfect match. Due to the covid restrictions, the parent counsel has been unable to provide the fundraising opportunities and parent/child involvement that has happened in the past. Our meetings are held monthly and consist of updates on activities and learning regarding each class, budgets for programs offered, possible fundraising opportunities, and any other concerns/information regarding our children’s well being and education at Holy Redeemer. Please join us for our next meeting February 16th …. you do not even have to leave the warmth of your home 😊 Everyone is welcome and encouraged to participate but you are also welcome to sit back, grab a coffee and take in the information.

PS: If you ever see me on the grounds of the school, please stop and say hello I would love to meet you!

Stay safe and be Kind.
