We are excited to announce a fun event for all ACMA students, May The Fourth Be With You! Come in your favorite Star Wars gear! Games, prizes, DJ, photo opportunities and snacks will all be a part of this school wide event. Like the Fall Fest, we will keep it distant and outside. A small change is that we will have three 1 hour slots for students to stay on campus. Arrival times can be at 2:30, 3:30 or 4:30pm. Tickets will go on sale next week for $10/student. Sorry no guests, ACMA students & staff only. Log into Booktix next week to purchase your ticket.
Yearbook Sales
Don't miss out! Like everything else this school year, the opportunity to purchase a yearbook looks a little bit different. This year, yearbooks can be purchased through the office or through the online district payment system at a set price of $50. Books WILL SELL OUT. Please do not wait until the last minute to buy a book or there will not be one for you to purchase.
Informational Video On What Hybrid Will Look Like
Hybrid/CDL Return to Campus on April 22nd
I wanted to reach out with a bit of information about our shift to hybrid learning in April. We are still working on some logistics and it is my hope to have answers to the many questions on peoples’ minds as soon as we can.
Until then, I can share what we know now. I’ve learned over the past few months that things can change, so I’ll emphasize the word now, but I do believe that this information will stay consistent and that we will be able to add to it when we return from spring break.
At ACMA 55% of our students are returning in hybrid, which means they will be on campus two days each week for instruction. Students will be assigned either Attendance Group 1 or Attendance Group 2, and families whose students will be on campus beginning in April you should have been notified of their attendance group you are in.
Many things about our current model will remain the same: students will still go to four classes each day, we will have A and B (or odd and even) days, and teachers will blend direct instruction and student work time during the period. Those students who choose to remain in CDL will access classes just as they have all year, joining by Zoom and interacting with their teacher and each other as they have. The difference will be that a group of students, usually between 5-15, will be in the classroom doing the same thing as those at home. Teachers will teach the same lesson to both groups. Those in Attendance Group 1, for example, will have a lesson in the classroom on Monday (which Attendance Group 2 and all CDL only students will be learning from home) and then Attendance Group 1 will have a different lesson later in the week from home while Attendance Group 2 is on campus.
Wednesdays will remain as they are now, with a morning Ohana meeting over Zoom the only synchronous instruction. Students will not be on campus for classes on Wednesdays.
We know that we want all students who are coming in hybrid to have an opportunity to see all of their classes in person on campus, so the A/B calendar will adjust to allow for that. Below is a revised A/B calendar, but in a nutshell to make sure each attendance group gets to see each class, we will go to a model with the groove of a late 70s Swedish rock band: ABBA. This means:
Monday A, Tuesday B, Wednesday only Ohana, Thursday B, Friday A.
I think it will feel more natural once we’re in it.
One other difference is lunch, which will adjust from a single lunch in our current remote model back to the two lunches we have when we’re all in the building. This will be reflected in the bell schedule (see below). We are working now to determine which classes will have first lunch and which will have second lunch. We need to balance the number of students who are on campus to help with the distancing and safety requirements we have in the cafeteria.
The other topic that you will get much more information about is the safety procedures we’ll follow for students coming back on campus. The district website and FAQ has some information about the BSD plan, and ACMA’s plan will follow that guidance. We know that everyone on campus will wear masks throughout the day, stay at a safe distance, and follow the guidance for cleaning surfaces etc. We will share more specific and detailed information before we return to campus in April.
I know this doesn’t answer every question, but I hope it helps with some perspective on what this will look like as we finish the school year in a new model. I hope you all had a good Spring Break and look forward to engaging with you more and getting the questions that remained answered in the weeks ahead.
Take care,
Bjorn

Staff Exhibit April 1 - May1
Photo teacher, Mr. Jon Gottshall has his own art exhibit coming up!
April 1 - May 1
Called Floodplain, it's an exploration of the use and mis-use of the Willamette and Columbia River's floodplains, especially the Columbia Slough. Now mostly covered with pavement, warehouses and crisscrossing transportation corridors, the slough watershed is the remnant of a once vibrant wetland. Yet the wildlife dependent on the wetlands remains, determined and resilient, as baby-steps are taken to restore the floodplains' ecological potential.
The exhibit is at Gallery 114, 1100 NW Glisan St, Portland. We're open Fri 12-3, Saturday 12-6, or by appointment (jon_gottshall@beaverton.k12.or.us).
Below is his photograph called, "I-5 Pier over the Columbia Slough"
Last Chance for Senior Submissions
Because of the pandemic, we're extending our deadline to April 30th.
The most important of the three submissions is your senior photo, so if you don't want to or can't submit a baby photo and/or quote, don't fret, a current photo will be fine on its own.
If you're having trouble getting a picture due to COVID, Yearbook is offering to take a simple senior photo on campus when we go back in April.
Please email me back with your submissions and/or let me know if you'd like to have a picture taken when we return to school.
I've attached the senior submission requirements to this email.
Thanks,
Ms. Warren
Yearbook Adviser
