From the desk of Mr. Blanscet....

It has been a busy week at Anna Middle School. Our theatre students performed their One Act Play in front of the community last weekend and competed in Propser on Tuesday. Our basketball teams kicked off their season on Monday and our tennis teams had a match on Wednesday.

Students are doing amazing things in the classroom. Our teachers are reviewing nine weeks test data and reviewing this with students. We have seen some tremendous gains. The high school counselors have been visiting with 8th graders on high school course selection.

November is a time of Thanksgiving. We are thankful for the opportunity to serve our students and families each day alongside our amazing team of Anna ISD educators. We are truly blessed in Anna. Thank you for all you do to support AMS. I hope all of our AMS families have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.

Go Coyotes!

GT Update...

AMS GT students are currently working on building scale models of Tiny Homes; in this Project Based Learning activity, students are gaining skills in designing, creating scale models, and constructing houses to present to real world clients. By the time students complete these models, they will have learned some 3D modeling skills, use of textiles as well as electric circuitry as we finish these models.

We are also working on a competition project called Future City in which our teams plan a city 100 years in the future that helps to mitigate a source of environmental destruction. Students are planning the city, writing an essay, and creating a presentation for competition which will take place in January.

A message from Chief Jones..

I want to bring this to your attention so that we as a school community can work together to stop violence in the schools. We are starting to see a few fights at the middle and high schools already this year. With that said if a student is involved in a fight at a school or within 300' from the school property lines, the student can receive both school discipline (which usually consists of a DAEP placement)and be arrested and/or referred to Anna Municipal Courts for disorderly conduct. This charge brings with it a fine of up to $500 and court-ordered mandates if found guilty. Thank you for your attention in the matter and let's work together to put a stop to school violence so that our students and staff will have a safe place for education. Also putting the fights on social media helps make the prosecution for these crimes much easier for us.

Counselors Corner

The AMS Counselors have been busy assisting high school counselors with incoming freshman course selections for the 2023-2024 School Year. The Fall is a very busy time of year as we move into the holiday breaks. Counselors are busy helping students work through and manage their social and emotional needs. As time allows, counselors have also been doing academic advising through setting goals for the upcoming MAP administration after the Thanksgiving break and grade review.
