Mrs. Farmer's Weekly News: Monday, May 16th- Friday, May 20th
The students are on fire with creativity in their narrative writing! They are using active verbs and wonderful descriptive adjectives. It is so wonderful to see their progress as creative writers!
Common Core Standards Covered This Week:
CCSS.W.7.3: Write narratives to develop real or imagined experiences or events using effective technique, relevant descriptive details, and well-structured sequences.
a. Engage and orient the reader by establishing a context and point of view of characters.
CCSS.W.7.2: Write informative texts to examine a topic and convey ideas, concepts, and information.
CCSS.RL.7.5: Analyze how a drama' s or poem's form or structure contributes to its meaning.
Monday: Bellwork. Students will choose a pop "clean version" song to analyze for figurative language. This is a 2-day project.
Tuesday: Bellwork. Complete poetry project.
Wednesday: Bellwork. Students will create a digital version of their poetry project, including their own original ballad poem on Google Slides.
Thursday: Bellwork. Students will complete the digital version of their project and original poem on Google Slides and turn
into Google Classroom.
Friday: Students will have a checkpoint on figurative language and review for final on Tuesday (of next week).
Lyrical Poem Project
Students will choose a song of their choice to analyze. There are several components. Check out the link.
The students will be writing original ballads this week to include with their digital poetry projects. The final completion will be on Google Slides and turned into Google Classroom by Friday.
Checkpoint and Review on Friday!
The ELA FINAL EXAM will be on Tuesday, May 24th!
