Principal Newsletter
From the Desk of Mrs. Riley
October 7, 2021
Dear Parents,
Today our students in Grades 4 through 8 participated in Virtual Mission Day. What a wonderful experience it was for them! Please ask them to share with you what this two hour experience was like and what they were able to learn from it. We are all called by Baptism to serve the Church and spread the Gospel. We can do this by praying and making sacrifices for others. Together we can continue to teach our children that we all have a missionary vocation.
Here are a few important school updates and reminders:
- Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held by phone this year. They will take place at numerous times throughout the week of October 25th. The OptionC Parent Teacher Conference Portal will open this coming Wednesday, October 13th. Parents with students in Grades K - 4 will schedule with their homeroom teacher. Parents with students in Grades 5 - 8 can schedule with teachers in each subject area. The portal will be open until Monday, October 25th. You can certainly opt out if you feel a conference is not necessary at this time.
- The Harvest Dance scheduled for the end of the month has been cancelled.
- October 28th will be a half day of school with dismissal at 11:45 AM. There will be bus transportation. There will be NO PM CARES. Friday, October 29th school will be closed.
- This is a reminder to try as best you can to schedule appointments after the school day. The number of students leaving early is increasing daily. This does disrupt the classroom and students are missing out on their lessons.
Thank you for your constant support and prayers for our school. I encourage you to continue to support our work as we advance our mission to provide a transformative education steeped in academics and faith to our deserving students. There is no greater investment for forming our future saints than a Catholic education!
Please carefully review this week's newsletter for many reminders and updates. We thank you for entrusting your children to us and for the sacrifices you make each day to send your child(ren) to Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic School.
God's peace,
Mrs. Barbara Riley
