Summary
In the present modern time in a small town, This book is about is a high school boy named Clay. Clay received several cassette tapes from Hannah Backer a girl from his school that has recently committed suicide. The tapes have audio of Hannah telling 13 reasons why she killed herself. The first tape states clearly that these tapes r to be mailed to each person mentioned or the tapes will be released publicly for all to hear. The book switches between narrations of Hannah’s tapes and Clay.
! Spoiler Alert! Some of the reasons Hannah killed herself is because,
1) She was raped by a classmate
2) Her best friend believed a bunch of untrue rumors about her and hit her and left a scar above her left eye brow
3) Rumors of Hannah having sex with a kid from her school went around
4) She was staked by a classmate, who knows how many times
And u will have to read the book to fimd out the rest of theAssessment
I decided to read this book after I saw a friend post a picture of the cover on Instagram. I am so happy I read the book because it was truly amazing, it has great life lessons like what you say matters. My absolute favorite part of the book was when Clay finds out that he is not one of the reasons for Hannah’s suicide. I really liked this book because it really shows and tell how one thing u do can effect someone’s life forever. I would recommend this book to High schoolers and adults to show these life lesson. I do not recommend this book to anyone in middle or elementary school because it does talk about rape and suicide.
