Our Math Data
After reviewing our Unit 3 Math data, 87% of our first grade class grew from their pre test to post test, and 85% of them scored either met or advanced on the post test! :) Way to go, first graders!
The kiddos LOVED their Sonic drink celebration (with donut!) on Friday. They each received a cherry limeade and a mini frosted or chocolate donut. Some of them told me it was the first time they had ever tasted a cherry limeade! It was such a fun moment for our class. :) I was honored to reward them a second time this year for their outstanding behavior! These kiddos make me so proud due to their smart choices. And, thank you to Thomas and Sara Connell for delivering them to the school...you guys rock!
This week, Dr. Engelhart sent out a note about how the kiddos were working together as a team during a P.E. lesson with Coach Wright. They were able to come up with a game plan for one of the activities as a group and collaborate. I am incredibly proud of them for not only making smart choices in our class, but in P.E., as well. :)
Our Math Data
Here is what we have planned for next week:
Words of the Week- one, did, your, there, old
Pattern- old: sold, gold, told, hold, etc.
We will be reviewing nonfiction text features (table of contents, bold words, headings, maps, captions, glossary, and index) by sharing how the features help us locate and understand information in the text. I am excited to have the kiddos show what they know!
As we wrap up our How To essays, we will be reviewing a narrative by writing a Christmas-themed, personal narrative with a strong beginning, middle and end that has three details. I am excited to read their Christmas-themed stories! :)
As we end our unit on counting by tens, the students will take their post-test on Tuesday or Wednesday of next week (depending upon the results from their quiz on Monday). I am excited for the students to join in on their favorite activity after a post-test...graphing their awesome results! :)
Last week, the students learned all about economics and how money impacts our lives. Next week, the students will be using this information in order to create a business that sells a service. After the students agree on a particular service to sell, we will advertise it in our hallway and invite the other 1st grade classrooms to come buy our service! We will also be traveling to the other classrooms buying a good and a service. The students are excited to take leadership roles as they plan and organize this activity, as well as play the part of the consumer in other classrooms' businesses! :)
Thank you for an awesome week of learning last week! Please feel free to email or call me with any questions you have regarding anything going on in our classroom. I am here to serve my families as best as I can. Enjoy the beautiful weather this weekend!
