London & Paris Trip Update

Dec. 2016

4 Months To Go!

This newsletter is filled with lots of important information, including our upcoming 50/50 fundraiser raffle. Please make sure you read it all the way through as it contains important links for information you need to fill out and upcoming meeting dates.

The most important thing is your PASSPORT! If you have not already applied for it you need to do so within the next week. You may need to expedite the passport if you wait beyond this time frame. The name on your passport must match the name you registered with online at Explorica - these are the names they use to book the flights.

No passport = no trip!

For information and forms to apply for your passport, please visit the U.S. Department of State information page.

You will be responsible for keeping track of your passport on the plane, train, and in the hotel. A lost passport is one of the few problems I cannot fix with my credit card while we are on tour. However, I can expedite the process by having a copy of your passport digitally. You must fill out the form below with your passport information and upload a copy of your passport info page. I need this ASAP!

Student Passport Form

Please fill this out with the information from your passport and upload your color photo. This form is for the STUDENT travelers, please sign in with your MGSD student email account.

Adult Passport Form

Please fill this out with the information from your passport and upload your color photo. This form is for the ADULT travelers, please sign in with your MGSD email account.

Travel T-Shirts

One of my bon voyage gifts to you is your travel day t-shirt. You'll wear this shirt when we are traveling by plane, to make it easier for the chaperones to see you. This year, we will be getting long-sleeve shirts but I would like you to help choose the color and design. Please take this survey and at the end you will enter your size for the t-shirt. Everyone must take this survey so I can order you the correct size!

Please vote on the preferred design and give me an update on your size choice. I will be ordering these in January.

50-50 Raffle

We will be doing a 50-50 raffle fundraiser this month since many of you will have the chance to see family and friends over the holidays. Here's how it will work:

1. You ask people to buy a raffle ticket. Ask your teachers, friends, co-workers, family, anyone!

1 ticket = $5

5 tickets = $20 (free ticket!)

For each ticket you sell, you will earn $2.50.

2. You write their name & phone number and your name on one side of the ticket. You give them the other half of the ticket as a receipt.

3. Turn in all money and sold tickets to Mrs. Waid by Friday, January 6. I will give you a receipt and log your sales.

4. On Monday, January 9 we will pull the winner. The lucky winner gets half of the money sold (you will be splitting the other half among yourselves based on how much you sell). For example, if all 42 of us sell 10 tickets at $5 each to raise $2,200, the lucky winner will take home $1,100!

If you sell 20 raffle tickets, you'll earn $50 you can use toward your spending money or trip balance. If you sell 50 tickets, you'll earn $125! The more tickets we sell, the more you earn, and the bigger the jackpot.

On Wednesday, I will have your raffle ticket packets available at our meeting. If you cannot attend the meeting, please see me on Thursday to pick them up.

9 Holiday Gifts to Ask For

It's not too late to add some travel gear to your holiday wish list! Check out some of these favorites I recommend. Keep an eye on those after Christmas sales too!

Flight & Baggage Info

You will be allowed one suitcase (make sure it has wheels), up to 50 pounds when packed. One carry on only. You will need to pack one change of clothes and any valuables (phone, camera, medicine, etc.) in your carry on.

Our flights were posted briefly, but have since changed and are now showing not yet available. This is common as they try and get us the best possible flights with the least number of connections/layovers. Please stay tuned and I will send another update when we have more details!
