Weekly Family Update # 33
April 19, 2020
Principal's Message
Hello Falcon Families,
I hope you all had a relaxing and peaceful Spring Break. My kids and I enjoyed adventures at home with a campout in the living room, painting rocks, baking lots of goodies, Jedi training, chasing the puppy, making a Rube Goldberg machine, and plenty of scooter rides around the backyard. We made the best of this unusual situation and had a fantastic time.
We are back! Teachers will be posting their weekly assignments tomorrow as we continue with our Distance Learning Plan. Please refer to the schedule below. My hope is that as we get going this week and into next week, our students will begin to get into a normal-ish school routine. Just before Spring Break, District Office leadership announced the grading system for the reminder of the school year. PUSD will implement a temporary change to credit/no credit grading for all students for the remainder of the 2019-20 school year. More detailed information can found by clicking the button below that links to the main PUSD website.
An additional challenge we are addressing related to distance learning has been concerns about online safety. In order to create engaging distance learning options for students, many PUSD teachers are utilizing Zoom and other live conference programs to run live classroom sessions and meetings. Poway Unified School District holds the safety of our students as our highest priority, whether they are physically present in a classroom or participating online virtually. While teachers have been given recommended tools to ensure maximum student safety and security, parents and guardians, we also need your help and support! Remind your child that classroom codes and passwords should not be shared with others who are not part of their class. Please speak to your student about the importance of good digital citizenship and behavior when online. Any reports of inappropriate student behavior in an online classroom setting, including hacking, bullying, hate, harassment, or disruptive or obscene behavior, will not be tolerated and should be reported. Please refer to our Student Technology Acceptable Use policy HERE. Students violating this policy will be identified, an investigation will be conducted, and appropriate disciplinary measures will be taken.
Thank you to those families who have completed the online continuing registration process. If you have not done so yet, it is easy! I completed the process for my kiddos in just a few minutes. More detailed information can be found below.
Have a great week Falcons!
Thanks for all you do for our Oak Valley Community! Go Falcons!

Online Continuing Student Registration for 2020-2021
The online Continuing Student Registration will be open April 1 - April 30, 2020. Parents and Guardians will receive email notification once the website is open.
We must receive a completed digital packet for all returning students. This will allow for proper placement of your student for the 2020-2021 school year. This annual digital process will allow a family to complete one single “family” packet instead of completing one packet per student.
Packets can be completed using any computer, tablet or smartphone with an internet connection. In preparation of this process, now is the time to confirm that you know your parent login username and password. This information will be needed to complete the registration packet.
Please take a moment and ensure you can login to https://sis.powayusd.com. If you do not know your username and/or password, you can visit https://password.powayusd.com to retrieve your login credentials.
Please notify your current Principal via email as soon as possible if you do not plan to return to PUSD for the 2020-2021 school year.
*Once school resumes, we will be collecting all required signed paperwork*
Thank you for your attention to this important process.
