Biggest Loser Contest
Beginning this Friday we will kivk-off our 4th installment of the Biggest Loser Competition to which Conrad Buck won last year with a remarkable 30 lbs lost. So if you are interested please let me or Nancy know. For those of you who are motivated by money there is a $10 buy-in, or if you just want to participate for the fun of it you are more than welcome. Here are the ground rules:
-Winner will take all
-Weigh-ins will occur every Friday after school from 2:45-3:30 PM for eight weeks. We will have our first weigh-in April 5th, and this will be your baseline. Nancy will be the unbiased recorder every week. The competition will officially end on Friday, May 31st (8 weeks).
-Weigh-ins will occur in Nancy's office.
-Winner will be determined by the percentage of your total weight lost not the number of pounds that you lose.
-For those of you who are motivated by money, every Friday you weigh-in, if you are over, you are to contribute one dollar to the pot : )
-Nancy will send out weekly updates to the participating group weekly so you will know where you stand.
Let Nancy know if you are interested. Should be fun!
BTW - Conrad and Tina Garcia will not join the competition this year.
Memorial Service for Riley Salisbury
Riley’s family is holding a memorial service for him on March 23. He graduated from Westview last year and his younger brother still attends WHS. Riley was lost during a hunting trip in January and was never found. This very sad news impacts many in our Westview family. Our thoughts are with with the Salisbury family.

Digital Citizenship
Let's talk about Wikipedia. Wikipedia is often maligned by teachers and twitter trolls alike as an unreliable source. And yes, it does sometimes have major errors and omissions, but Wikipedia is also the Internet's largest general reference work and as such an incredibly powerful tool. Today we'll discuss using Wikipedia for good - to help us geta birds-eye view of content, better evaluate information with lateral reading, and find trustworthy primary sources. To learn how to use Wikipedia appropriately, share episode 5 of John Green’s series on internet Digital Citizenship by clicking here: http://bit.ly/digitalcitizenship5
