Principal's Message
October 25, 2019
Hello Willink Families,
The last full week in October provided some great experiences for Willink Students. On Monday, over fifty 6th graders competed in our annual Pumpkin Run - a one mile race around the Willink athletic fields. While this event reinforces Willink community and wellness, there is also a healthy rivalry among the houses to see who will win each year. Mrs. Socola and the blue house are happy to hold onto the trophy for another year - congrats to our blue house winners! I’d also like to thank Mr. Odle and our PE department as well as Mr. Lantzer and Mrs. Piazza for putting together this wonderful event.
We also had two events attended by students, parents, and our honored guest, Dr. Ross Willink. “Wee Willink” and our “Titans Care to Make a Difference Award” ceremony, both pictured below, were opportunities to have fun and recognize qualities our students have and grow during their middle school experience. Thank you to our WEB leaders for your help and congrats to our award winners. This month’s character trait to celebrate was respect. Thank you to Mrs. Lee, Mrs. Smith, and Mrs. Herman for your efforts in putting on these events!
As students head into the weekend, please note that the fall dance originally scheduled for tonight has been rescheduled for 11/22. We are also excited for Red Ribbon Week activities each day next week (See the flyer below for daily details). Red ribbon week is centered around the message and methods for choosing a healthy, drug-free lifestyle. A final “thank you” to our health teachers, Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Klafehn for organizing these activities and aligning them to a very important message for our students.
You’ll notice that next Thursday’s theme is “Titans aren’t scared to say NO to drugs! - Wear a costume!” Please know that students who choose to wear costumes on Thursday need to make sure they do not cause a disruption to the learning environment and/or create a potential safety concern. Make sure that there are no costume accessories that could be interpreted as weapons or other safety concerns and please recognize that students may need to remove parts of costumes that prevent them from being identifiable or from accessing the learning environment.
Thank you and have a great weekend!
