"Students who leave early will not be eligible for recognition for perfect attendance, unless a doctor’s note is provided excusing the early dismissal from school."

Students in Kindergarten through 3rd grade will be recognized for Perfect Attendance. Third grade students will be recognized for Honor Roll.

Tips From The Nurse...
DON'T DREAD HALLOWEEN BECAUSE OF CANDY OVERLOAD...
Help your children understand that large amounts of sugary foods make their
immune system "sleepy" and not very strong. The more the sugar, the bigger the chance of catching colds, flu, etc. Better to make the treats spread out over a long time (days or weeks) than risk getting sick after eating it all at once.
If you keep candy guidelines realistic, consistent, and positive, your Halloween is less likely to be about arguing or controlling candy. Make a plan together so everyone knows what to expect. It’s also a great opportunity to teach your kids about moderation, balance, and healthful indulging.

Counselor's Corner
Hello LVES Families! During our class guidance lessons about Respect this month, students are also learning about Red Ribbon Week and the importance of staying away from the “bad drugs.” They are understanding that when we help ourselves and other people, we are showing them that we care about them, and respect them. Students are understanding the value of respecting our bodies and brains, making good choices, being kind to our friends, and not hurting people’s feelings.
Our LVES Red Ribbon Week Theme Days will be October 28-November 1:
Mon. “We’re REaDy to Be Drug Free!”- Wear red for the Red Ribbon Pledge Signing!
Tues. “Stomp Out Drugs!” - Wear your Western clothes and boots!
Wed. “Too Smart for Drugs!” - Wear your college shirt!
Thur. “We are Too Bright to do Drugs!”- Wear bright or neon colors!
Fri. “Team Up Against Drugs!”- Wear your blue & gold Viking spirit wear!
“Respect for ourselves guides our morals, and respect for others guides our manners.” ~Laurence Sterne
~Laurence Sterne
