Keeping you Informed
Good Morning Cool Kittens and (Bob)Cats,
Okay, maybe I watched Tiger King a few times now. :) I hope everyone had a great week off and is ready to make the transition to remote learning for the 4th quarter. We will be continuing to monitor students who we have not heard from again at the end of this week. This week would have been our volleyball rally against the 8th graders. It makes me sad knowing we won't have this tradition to continue this year, but I am hopeful we will see in years to come.
Please keep in mind that less is more while we are in our remote learning protocol. You want to target the essential standards during this time and realized that you would not be able to cover everything that you usually would. I will send out a form that you can copy and modify for your use later this week to get an idea of how many minutes students are doing work for your class each day. I think it will be essential to monitor the length of assignments during this time. It is easy for us to know how to plan for a 45 minute class, but this is very much like going back to our first year teaching and trying to figure out the right amount of time necessary to complete activities.
I miss getting to see and talk with everyone face to face and can't wait to get back to see everyone in the future. Have a great week and make sure to convey what is going well and not going well with your department leads as I will be checking in with them on Thursday afternoon. Lastly, below is an article about formative assessment in a distant learning environment, a video about engagement, and an article about teacher self-care.
Elective Registration- Tomorrow, the elective registration opens up for our students for 2020-21. It will be open from April 14th to April 24th. The application for our application electives is online and will be shared with students. Below is the link to our elective selection page. An email will be going out tonight to parents and students.
