Important Information
Thank you so so much to the families that have brought in prize box prizes, signed up to bring in items for our Thankful Feast, and cans for the food drive. All of your help is GREATLY appreciated!! :)
1. Kindergarten Thankful Feast
On Wednesday, November 18th Ms. Fichter and Mrs. James' Kindergarten classes will have a Thankful Feast in our school cafeteria from 1:30-2:45 pm. We are inviting all family members to come and join your Kindergartener for their Thankful Feast... siblings too! During our feast, our two kindergarten classes will perform a Thanksgiving song (or three!), participate in a fun Turkey dance, share what they are all thankful for this year, and enjoy some delicious food! If you can’t come come be a part of our day, make sure you still sign-up to bring something in on our supply list using Sign-Up Genius. Please save this date if you want to come be a part of this exciting day in Kindergarten at FSAPS! Here is the sign-up genius link: Thankful Feast Sign-Up Genius
2. Book Fair:
Your child will be coming home with a "Book Fair Wish List" on Tuesday after we visit the book fair to preview books. On Thursday, we will return to the book fair to purchase books. If you would like your child to purchase books.... please return their wish list, circle the books you approve on their wish list, and send them with the correct amount of money for those books!
**Since the book fair will be taking place in the media center, we will not be visiting it on Monday
3. Canned Food Drive at FSAPS
Our student council is organizing a canned food drive that will continue from Monday, November 2 - Wednesday, November 18th. We will be collecting and donating canned foods for North Fulton Charities. This will be a contest! The three grades who collect the most (in relation to how many students in each grade) will earn a dress down day!
Your students can bring in cans from Nov. 2 - Nov. 18. If you drop them off at the front office, please make sure you let them know which homeroom they should go to so we can count them in our total number of cans collected.
We will count how many cans each grade receives and divide it by the number of students in that grade to find the average per student... the top 3 highest numbers will win a dress down day! As of today we have 26 cans.
Let's go Kindergarten!!
4. Traveling for the Holidays?
A few families have already spoken to me about their child's upcoming absence during the winter season. If you will be traveling before Thanksgiving or winter break and your child will be absent, PLEASE let me know asap. I will prepare for your child's absence and we will make sure they are able to take their winter MAP assessments before their travels.
5. Spirit Wear orders due Thursday, November 19th!
Spirit wear shirts, which can be worn with uniform pants and skirts every Friday, are available for order. Order forms are available at the front desk and must be accompanied by a check made out to the PVO.
**The PVO plans to offer another opportunity for names to be embroidered on jackets in December.**
6. Media Center:
We visit the media center as a class every Monday! Please make sure your student brings back their books once they have finished reading them so they can bring home new ones! Please note that students with books that are not returned or renewed within two weeks will be charge 5 cents per day overdue.
7. Talent Show Auditions!
Mrs. Peacock & Mrs. Millar will be starting auditions for the Winter Talent Show THIS Monday November 9th! Auditions will be held before school in Mrs. Peacock’s room. Audition sign up sheets are outside Mrs. Peacock and Mrs. Millar’s classrooms. Auditions will be from Monday November 9th – Thursday November 19th. By Friday November 20th, there will be a FINAL talent show list of student performers for the FSAPS Winter Talent Show on Wednesday, December 16th, 2015!
The Elementary talent show will be held in the morning, and a separate talent show for the middle school will be held in the afternoon.
8. Pre-K and Kindergarten Dismissal Hallway Safety
During the dismissal periods, please make sure you wait outside the side door until a teacher lets you in. Parents should only enter the hallway when a Pre-K or Kindergarten teacher is present. It is a safety issue when parents waiting in the hall open the door for other adults.
Likewise, other teachers and students whose classrooms are in that hallway have been asked not to open the door for people waiting there. The safety of our students must always come first! Let’s all work together to make sure we always keep that in mind. Thank you so much for your cooperation.
9. Food Allergy Treats
If your child cannot eat cupcakes, cake or any other party foods, please send in a plastic bag with treats they can enjoy when we have celebrations. Thank you!
10. **Donations**
We have some fantastic readers in our class! It makes me one very proud teacher! If you have any books at home (especially nonfiction books) that you are no longer using, please consider donating them to our classroom library! I would greatly appreciate any and all books that we can collect to have more for our students to choose from.
**Please see prize box donation details below. Thank you!**
