From the Principal:

Congratulations: We would like to congratulate our second quarter Terrific Kids! As always picking just 2 per class in our amazing school was a tough job for teachers. Congratulations!

Hero Art Contest Winners: Last month we had an art contest. The theme was "If I could be a Super Hero..." The winners' artwork is on display in the main office. They will also be featured on our welcome screen in the main office and the two scrolling announcement screens upstairs. The winners are invited to join Mrs. Manahan and Ms. Jackson for lunch Friday in the main office. Congratulations to our three winners.

  • First place - Effie Scheerer - Kindergarten (Mrs. Vallez Sheldon) "Kindness Hero"
  • Second place - Scarlett LaMotte - second grade (Mrs. Hodges) "Hero is what's inside of you"
  • Third place - Catie Rodenberg - fifth grade (Mrs. Olson) "Climate Catie"

Lost and Found: Please check out the lost and found this FRIDAY. It will be outside for display from 7:00 AM - 2:30 PM. We will have every child check out the display Friday during school. However, they don't always remember what their clothing looks like or whether or not it was even lost. This has all been collected since we returned from winter break. We will be donating the items Wednesday, February 8.

Attendance Reminder: Students are considered truant once they have accumulated 5 unexcused absences or 3 consecutive unexcused absences. Parent notes do not automatically excuse absences. Travel and vacations are not excused absences. When your child is out for a week they miss valuable content and are considered Truant. Once students are considered truant, you will be contacted to discuss the attendance issue.

Students who miss 10 days or more excused or unexcused could be in jeopardy of retention if there are academic concerns and attendance is found to be a contributing factor.

From the Front Office: Early Dismissal Notes

Don't forget to write a note on a separate piece of paper when you plan on picking your child up early. We can have your child in the office sooner when we know you are coming. This will help you avoid a long wait, especially when they are coming from lunch or recess. Below is a dismissal note you can fill out and send when planning an early pickup. As a reminder, we do not allow early dismissal in the last 30 minutes of the school day.
Volunteer Application

In order to be considered for a volunteer position with the Charleston County School District, please access and complete the Volunteer Application. Approved applications are good for three years.
