In Case You Missed It:
I apologize for all the "time sensitive" emails being sent. It's that time of year when we are needing to finish thing up and close things out. As you know everything seems to take more time, more planning, and explanation since we are doing things remotely. Please bare with me and let me know if you have suggestions for improvement on communicating all the "stuff".
I'm excited to announce that Melissa Stec will be joining us to teach science on the Clemson Tiger Team next school year. Melissa has been teaching at BT Bullock for four years; the last 2 have been 4th grade math and science.
We are still looking for a 7th grade ELA teacher, an 11 month custodian, and a part-time 10 month office support person. Please make sure to point any people that you feel would make a good addition to our SLMS Family in to our direction.
Monica Hawes, Keith Smith, and Christie Maddox are working daily at SLMS. They have been "deep cleaning" like they normally do in the summer. The 300 hallway has already been waxed and will be dry Monday. The gym floor is being waxed next week. The 600 and 700 hallways have furniture out in the hallways with floors being top scrubbed. The main and 800 hallways have not had any furniture moved or floors, or carpets cleaned. Custodians will suspend waxing until June 1, when everyone is supposed to have had a chance to come in that needed to come in.
We are preparing a system for families to be able to come and drop things off and pick up any personal belongings they are requesting. Items must be requested in order to retrieve, and right now less than 20 kids have requested anything. Students/families have until Tuesday to respond if they need something. Several students have not given enough information to retrieve what they are asking for. I will be sending this information to teacher teams to reach out to clarify with the student/family. Nurse Chris will be coordinating meds pick up.
Eighth grade is creating a video/slideshow to celebrate our 8th graders to be "released" on June 4. Our very own, DJ Izzy Izz, is helping the team with her mad music and videographer skills :) One part will be of staff wanting to wish them well. A member of the 8th grade team will reach out to give you directions on what to do if you are interested. 6th and 7th grade teams are welcome and encouraged to do some type of memory/picture slideshow.
One of our SLMS families, the Gardners (2 girls in college, Charlie @SLHS and Savannah 7th), lost their home on Friday due to a fire. Alison Poole did speak with mom and reports everyone is alright. At this time they do not know what is needed, but when we hear, we will let our school family know.
