Cultural foods in "My Plate"
By:Gladys Estrada
Blending cultures
Blending other cultures meals with your cultures meals could actually help out balance your plate. Many cultures have a mixture of fruits , vegetables, whole grains, & lean meats that can help out balance it, this doesn't mean you replace your culturel meals for others.
Change it up
Changing the "type" of food you eat can give you many ways of having better chances on getting the required food groups to cover "My Plate." For example eating sushi can cover the meat and beans group. This way you can cover your plate requirements throughout the week.
Brunch
this could be a good example of a meal you can eat for brunch mixing a small portion of strawberries, white rice, broccoli, and meat
Dinner
Ham and spinach could be a good dinner if your trying to have a small one.
Lunch
This lunch can be a very healthy one, having a small portion of salad, steak, rice and apples could help bring stamina up which is helpful for someone on the move
Other
Now you don't HAVE to mix up cultures with your culture if you don't want to, just make sure to reduce the portions of your meals according to the food group servings.
