News and Information
Grandparent Interviews were sent home on Monday and are due on Monday, October 12th!!
Your child will brought home a grandparent interview booklet Monday. We are using these interviews for part of our presentation on Grandparent’s day in November (dates and times to come later). If you have questions about the interview project, please contact me and I’ll be glad to help you out.
Grandparent's Day for MY CLASS will be Thursday, Nov. 12 from 8:30-9:30. The students can invite as many grandparents as they would like. We cannot accommodate grandparents for lunch on that day- our cafeteria is bursting at the seams with just our students. Thanks for your cooperation and understanding.

English and Writing
We are writing poetry this week and next to be used for grandparent's day. We are learning to think about and include our 5 senses in our poetry so our readers will understand exactly how we feel. In English we have learned about different types of nouns: Proper nouns, singular/ plural nouns and collective nouns.

Homework Help and Hints!
Running short on time and heading to the grocery store? Have your child make the list for you. This is a great way to practice stretching out words and writing down each sound (not necessarily the right letter J ) they hear. Example: spugete could be a phonetic (or sound) spelling of spaghetti. This is called invented spelling and is a stage of spelling that all students go through before they learn standard spellings for words. This is still appropriate for 2nd grade students, especially on words that are very long or don’t follow spelling patterns.
