Health Tip of the Week
The second semester of school can be hard for some teens. The pressure of finishing high school, the stress of exams, and all of life's extra demands can be overwhelming. However, there is hope and support through strong relationships at home and school. Read these items below from the CDC about how to improve teen mental health and click here for more information on this topic.
Fortunately, the same prevention strategies that promote mental health—like helping students feel connected to school/family—help prevent a range of negative experiences, like drug use and violence. Building strong bonds and relationships with adults and friends at school, at home and in the community provides youth with a sense of connectedness.
Congratulations Madison Lee! She is State Bound and the first female in our cluster's history to qualify for State Swim & Dive. Go Pulse!

Gwinnett County Youth Commission
The Gwinnett Youth Commission is a year-long leadership development program for high school-age students in Gwinnett County. Students who participate in this program will:
- Earn volunteer service hours, build lasting relationships, and become better equipped to serve our vibrantly connected community.
- Attend behind-the-scenes tours of county government departments and facilities.
- Meet with elected and appointed officials to discuss ways youth can affect change in the community.
There is no cost to participate in this program. Meals are provided during the summer training sessions, however transportation to and from all GYC events is the participant’s responsibility.
