WLE Friday Update

What a great week!

Hello WLE Staff,

What an exciting week! Students are really getting in to the groove of learning, lunch and recess is running smooth and it's becoming more automatic to open doors. I had a moment of relief as I was able to use the new smartboard in music- thanks to Amy and Matt's troubleshooting. Little steps!

Our parents enjoyed Curriculum Night and your presentations allowed each of you to show your true caring and commitment to teaching. On Friday, students enjoyed learning about the Constitution and were able to make connections.

The construction crew is working like crazy to wrap up last minute tasks and I will be glad to no longer wear my hard hat but greatly appreciate our renovations.

I hope you spent time relaxing and enjoying some fun this weekend, there is a great week waiting for you on Monday.

***TRIMESTER CALENDAR***FALL CONFERENCES

Click here for the 2016-17 trimester calendar.

Parent-Teacher Conferences are Tuesday, November 8, (which is Election Day- which means I'm signing up for an absentee ballot!) I am still waiting on exact times. Parents will sign up for conferences through Family Access. As soon as I hear any more details- I will let you know.

Where the heck is Cyndi?

You may notice some upcoming dates where I am out of the building. I strive to be at WLE every day but sometimes there are meetings, professional development and leadership opportunities that take me away from the building. For example, our district hosts a Leadership Team meeting once a month where I have the chance to connect with other principals and administrators as we engage in Professional Development. In addition, I also attend Curriculum, Instructional Technology and Assessment, or CITA, meetings once a month. This helps me stay current with technology and learn about changes from the national, state or district level. Finally, you notice a couple of dates for MEMSPA (Michigan Elementary & Middle School Principal’s Association). I serve as Regional President, representing Oakland County and work to develop networking and professional development opportunities.

I tell you all this so you can be assured that if I am out of the building, I am continuing to grow and challenge myself.

One way to promote our school story is through technology. "We need to make the positive so loud that the negative becomes almost impossible to hear"- George Couros.

Consider promoting what is happening in our school through Twitter! Add the hashtag #wleced so our community can see "Every Child, Every Day" in action! This is a great tool as we focus on our communication goals.
