SCHEDULE CHANGE on FRIDAY - NOVEMBER 19TH!
Allen ISD has designated four early release days for students during the 2020-221 academic school year. On early release days, the Prekindergarten Program will operate on a modified schedule offering instruction only during the timeframe of 7:35 am - 10:35 am. To accommodate a balance in instruction for both the morning and afternoon sessions, two of the four district half days have been designated for each session to attend classes. The modified instructional schedule on early release days is outlined below:
GRADES KINDER-6 Early Dismissal FRIDAY
Thank you.
Congratulations to Mr. Spies!
Mr. Justin Spies, Assistant Principal, was approved as the new Principal for Lindsey Elementary. While we are sad for him to leave Rountree, we are proud for him to move into this next leadership role.
Please join us in congratulating Mr. Spies in this exciting opportunity and wish him well with continued success at Lindsey.
CONGRATULATIONS to our very own MRS. CHRISTI GALLAGHER
We are blessed to have Mrs. Gallagher at our campus! Congratulations!
Please Help Us Celebrate our Campus Diversity!
The Rountree Diversity & Inclusion Committee is excited about going into our season of thanks with a project that highlights family culture. This opportunity is for students and staff to build a CULTURE QUILT and share videos. In a nutshell:
■ Teachers will send information home today so students can work from home on interviews with their families.
■ Thursday, December 3rd - We will host a school-wide Cultural Dress Up Day and make in-class presentations based on what has been learned.
More information is attached below.
Rountree's Holiday Shop!
Rountree PTA will be having an online Holiday Shop starting the week of November 30 - December 4th. This will be an opportunity for our kids to purchase low cost gifts for their families. This sale will take the place of the Penguin Patch Shop that we usually do.

CogAT Testing for In-Person and At-Home KINDERGARTEN Learners
Parents of Kindergarteners:
Our campus will be administering CogAT to all in-person learners on Tuesday, December 1st. This test will be administered during the school day. Please view the informational letter sent via Skyward Family Access on October 26th for more information about CogAT.
Our campus will be administering CogAT to registered at-home learners on Monday, December 7th. This test will be administered during the school day. Your child should arrive on campus between 8:15am and 8:30am and report to the front office. He/She should bring lunch, water bottle, and, if desired, a snack. You may pick your child up from the front office between 11:45 and 12:00.
Please view the informational letter sent via Skyward Family Access on October 26th for more information about CogAT.
Empathy: Character Trait of the Month of December
During December, teachers will be looking for students who demonstrate empathy towards others. This could look like listening patiently without interruption, showing warmth in your eyes, body posture and non-verbal gestures, letting others go first, helping another student who dropped supplies, including others at recess.
Don’t Forget -- at the end of each month, we will recognize and reward the positive behaviors we are seeing at Rountree. All students, both At-School and At-Home learners, have the opportunity each month to earn a certificate and have their picture made with our Principal to go on our “Wall of Fame.”
We will WEAR GREEN on Tuesday, December 1st, for Empathy.
ENJOY YOUR THANKSGIVING BREAK!
While this Thanksgiving break might look different for all of us, one thing is for sure...We are THANKFUL for each of YOU!!

Allen ISD Academic Updates for Grades 6-12
Beginning with the 2021-2022 academic year, Allen ISD will replace “Pre-AP/Pre-IB” with “Advanced” in any and all courses currently carrying the Pre-AP naming convention. This will affect courses for grades 6-12 at all Allen ISD campuses. This change is due to a new College Board policy, which requires districts to purchase their newly created “Official Pre-AP” curriculum in order to use the Pre-AP nomenclature in course titles. Allen ISD will not be purchasing this new curriculum. Please be assured all newly-named Advanced courses will continue to be taught at a high level of rigor utilizing the district-designed curriculum currently in place. Advanced courses in grades 9-12 will still carry a 4.5 GPA weight.
The district will continue to offer the full spectrum of Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) courses it currently does. AP course names and content are dictated by the College Board, so changing the name of Pre-AP courses to Advanced courses will not have an effect on AP course offerings. Similarly, IB courses will not be affected by this change as the International Baccalaureate Organization does not use the term “Pre-IB” in its course naming conventions.
Updates to the course names will be reflected in the 2021-2022 Academic Planning Guide and course selection forms. For more information, please see the Pre-AP Name Change FAQs document.
Rountree 5th & 6th Grade Opportunity - STEAM Ambassador Tutoring
Allen STEAM Ambassadors (a student leadership program with a STEM/STEAM focus)
Please consider this virtual tutoring service that was developed by students in the Allen leadership program. As the STEAM Ambassadors are top students that excel in science and math, who better to help other students struggling in these subjects? We piloted the program starting a few weeks ago to 7th and 8th graders after meeting with the middle school principals, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive.
Students in grades 5-9 needing support in math and science can access it through this student leadership program. While it is not a replacement for tutoring with their teacher, we all know of students that would benefit from the one on one support typically offered face to face. Details on the program as well as the required forms/materials are included in this flyer link -

Education through Diversity
The Comanche Wichita/Caddo Indians are some of the indigenous peoples of North Texas. They are a band of the larger tribe known as Pueblo. Quanah Parker, who lived from about 1845 to 1911, is remembered for his leadership and bridging the gap between the U.S. government and Native Americans.
