March 21 - 24
Welcome back to the final push of the school year! We have lots of learning and fun ahead. I hope you had all had a nice Spring Break. We’ll have a short, but busy, week. Here are the details for the next three days…
ELA – This week we will compare the experiences of Frog and Toad in The Garden. We’ll also read and discuss the non-fiction text features of an informational how- to book called How to Grow a Sunflower. We’ll compare these texts on the same topic at the end of the week.
Math- This week we’ll have a series of mini lessons where we’ll work on skills such as telling time, counting money and fractions.
Social Studies- Today we went outside and began work on rough drafts of our campus maps. We hope to finish the maps this week. The students are working collaboratively to create these maps, and they’re doing a great job so far.
Science – We began our Design Challenge on creating a wearable sunshade to protect us from the harmful rays of the sun. We’ll also discuss other ways the sun can be helpful and harmful in our lives.
Exploration Unit Projects – Your child’s final project is due this Thursday 3/24. Please take time to work on it a little every night this week. Feel free to send in finished projects prior to Thursday. Thank you to everyone who already emailed me their child’s finished project. We can’t wait to share them with our Kindergarten friends!
Box Tops – Thank you, Hannah, for sending in Box Tops. You’re “tops”!
Parent Readers – Don’t forget to sign up to read to our class sometime this month. http://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0c4ca9a72ea6fb6-march/11267819
