Principal’s Message: Important Information for Full Day Learning
This newsletter will provide you with all the information needed as we transition from hybrid to full day learning (In Person and Virtual). Full day learning begins on Tuesday, April 6. Please make sure to read the information carefully so you are fully informed. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to our Associate Principal, Colleen Grady, or myself. Thank you!
Mrs. Bellini
Full Day School Hours
Full day school hours for in person learning are 8:44 a.m. - 3:21 p.m. Supervision begins at 8:30 a.m. each morning. Please do not drop students off before this time. Virtual learning hours are 8:40 a.m. - 3:17 p.m.
Class Assignments
Families received an email with the name of their full day teacher on Tuesday, March 30. Most teacher assignments did not change. Aside from 4th grade, all virtual teachers are Oak Terrace teachers.
Here are the names of the virtual teachers:
K - Elysia Garcia
1st - Doug Smithhenry
2nd - Sylvie Kocjan
3rd - Roxanne Renteria
4th - Pam Kramer
5th - Nora Burton
Teachers will be reaching out to any new families with classroom information prior to April 6. As a reminder, virtual specials classes (art, music, PE and library) will be taught by Proximity Learning.
General Safety Guidelines for In-Person Learning
All in-person families must complete the Crisis Go certification process by 8:00 a.m. each day. You will receive an email from Crisis Go every morning at 6:00 a.m. Click on the link in the email to complete the self certification process. You must record your child’s temperature and answer all of the questions. Students will not be allowed to enter the building until they have been certified.
All students, staff, and families will be required to wear a mask at all times when on school grounds (inside and outside).
We encourage social distancing at all times. Students will be three feet apart when masks are on and six feet apart when masks are off (eating lunch).
Students will wash their hands every day as soon as they enter the classrooms. Hand sanitizer is available in every classroom for student and staff use.
For safety reasons, students will not be eating snacks at school.
Students will have assigned seats in all classrooms, at lunch, and on the bus for contact tracing purposes.
Lunch & Recess
Boxed hot lunches are available to any student free of charge from Organic Life. We are asking families to opt in to the program by completing this survey. If you prefer to send lunch from home, please DO NOT send lunches containing nuts.
Lunch will be socially distanced (6 foot distancing) and will take place in the cafeteria, library and gym. Students will sit in assigned seats with their classes. All students will wash their hands before lunch. Families have the option to pick up their own children for lunch and recess if they feel more comfortable. Parents who choose this option must commit to doing it every day. Please fill out this form by Monday, April 5 if interested. Lunch and recess hours are 11:50 a.m. - 12:40 p.m.
Students will participate in recess activities with their own class. Classes will be assigned to stations on the playground that will rotate by day. Students will sanitize their hands before and after recess.
What to Bring Each Day
Curricular Materials to Return to School (Virtual to In-Person)
Art and PE Materials to Return to School (All In-Person Students)
Please return all Art materials from the Art Kits that were sent home.
Please put your child’s name & grade on all of their PE equipment with a marker and put it in their PE Bag. On the PE bag, please put your child’s first and last name, teacher and grade level. We will keep it in their locker at school to use for PE!
The bag should contain: a playground ball, tennis ball, jump rope, yoga mat, wiffle ball, (frisbee 3nd-5th), beach ball and pedometer. The beach ball and playground ball will not fit in the bag. Please bring them in a garbage bag.
If you are missing any equipment please email Mr. Shanahan kshanahan@nssd112.org or Mr. Norris mnorris@nssd112.org to order new equipment, if possible.
Each student will only use their equipment in class. All the other gym equipment will be safely sanitized for use.
The pictures below are some of the things that belong in your PE equipment bag. Please return all equipment on Tuesday, April 6.
