Forest Habitats
Mrs. Austin's class worked to not only learn about Forest Habitats but to make dioramas to describe and display information in an interesting way. Students created a forest scene and added their very own forest animals. Following the activity, students will use their dioramas and facts about forest animals to create their very own Green Screen Project.

Wordly Wise 3000
First graders began participating in our newly purchased Direct Vocabulary Academic Instruction program entitled, “Wordly Wise 3000.” Wordly Wise is research-based, providing visually appealing lessons/materials that are child-friendly and engaging. Students are exposed to rich vocabulary, which is critical for early reading instruction!
In unit one, students learned vocab such as: globe, monument, nation, capital, coast, and swamp. They became excited about locating state capitals on the map, which led to an online virtual tour of our nation’s capital and monuments in Washington, D.C. Wordly Wise’s daily lessons include read alouds, poems, and various other hands-on activities to promote students’ learning and understanding! Mrs. Street's class is pictured below.
