LANCASTER BIRTHDAY SHOUT OUTS!
Marley’s Adventures this Week
MESSAGE FROM YOUR ADMINISTRATIVE TEAM
Dear Families,
In our visits to Lancaster's remote learning classrooms we often share big smiles as we see student work submissions. We are so proud of the hard work of both our students and our staff as they try to bring their best selves and participate in learning together while apart. Staff have been working hard to bring forward both creative and concrete learning activities. We have seen podcasts, talent shows, video lessons, theme weeks, class challenges, mystery guests, and poster contests, all while allowing students to shine in class meetings, through video submissions and by trying out new sharing platforms. This has been a very new experience for all of us and a tremendous amount of work for parents, guardians and educators to keep our little (and big!) ones and ourselves safe, engaged and well. While at times quite challenging, there have certainly been some highlights in the growth we have seen collectively as a learning community. Well done Lions!
During a regular school year, June is also a month that is often injected with end-of-year celebrations, outdoor learning, field trips, and popsicle chats. You may find your child is having a harder time attending to learning tasks as they are drawn outside or wanting to celebrate as they would at school. Our staff will continue to provide remote learning throughout the months of June as well as opportunities for students to connect with each other. We encourage families to focus on staying well and ensuring they are continuing to adhere to public health guidelines. It is also okay to inject some end-of-year flavour to your days, finding a backyard adventure, taking a break for a popsicle, and putting on some music with the sprinkler on....bring on the warm weather!

Retrieval of Student Belongings
The LDSB and KFL&A Public Health Unit have been working to develop safe protocols for students to retrieve any belongings left behind in March. Protocol has recently been released to schools and we are now developing site-specifc procedures that align with these guidelines and organizing staff to support the process. We will be contacting families to arrange for a time for access to the school building and to provide you with the protocol for retrieving student belongings.
There are some families who will not need to enter the school (no personal items/items may be too small by now). Any items in good condition remaining at the school will be donated or saved to support a child in need when we return to school.
We thank you for your patience and understanding as we plan a smooth, safe and efficient entry/exit plan. Details will come to you via School Messenger in the coming week.

VIRTUAL RUNNING CLUB - MEMBERSHIP OPEN TO ALL!
WE ARE MOVING OUR FEET LIONS!
New runners and families are welcome: CLASS CODE: j3eJs76. Although we can't travel very far right now....we can run! We are collecting kilometres to virtually run to different destinations in Ontario (and beyond). Join us and track your running, walking or biking kilometers. Hold a mini track meet, challenge siblings, parents, or relatives to see if they can track their kilometres too - we'll count them all. The more we are moving the healthier we will be!
MARATHON CHALLENGE
Some of you may have taken part in The Marathon Challenge before. If you did, you'll remember working hard to accumulate and track kilometres everyday. Once we got close, we took a trip to Invista Caraco Track to complete our last kilometres together. Obviously, we won't be able to do that this year, but nothing's stopping you from still taking on that challenge now!
We have attached the tracking sheets for a half marathon and the other is for a full in the classroom. You can collect kilometres together as a family or collect them individually. We'll check in with you each week in the classroom so you can tell us how you're doing.
Great work this week, keep it up Lions!
Your running coaches,
Ms. McDougall, Mr. Vreeken, and Ms. Fox
